In complex shades of gray
Is how the world sees my face
Walking with dismay
A secluded and unnoticed fate
But this is only the world's eyes
For beneath the gray ash exists
An extant life of mine
That sparks what I use to subsist
How secluded is the truth
Covered like the bitterness of an orange's skin
But beneath lies the sweet fruit
A valued secret, cozy within.
No one dares to ask
They only dare to stay mute
For their narrow eyes can't see past
the bitter skin of fruit
