What..why..shouldn't this be in the ladies forum. Lol
Well actually I've come to realise that men have their favourite colours as well!
(Those little moments when the wife walks in and you think ... Yuk or that's nice dear.
Although maybe they both mean the same thing :D).

So what is your favourite nail polish colour. Pictures appreciated of hand with polish on.

Strange subject I know but I have a friend who always bites her nails down to
the knuckles. She felt it was something she needed to overcome but wasn't sure what to do.
Then a week later a lady who does nails, approached her in church saying she felt God wanted
to bless my friend by helping her with her nails! So for the past two months she has been giving
her manicures and polish free of charge!

Coincidence? Or was it God's provision that He knows even the little things in our lives.
My friend's nails are now nice and long so we went to celebrate today by buying some new nail
polish during a bit of retail therapy.

So here is my hand (yes real picture of my hand) with my favourite nail polish colour.

Cool.

I don't use any kind of makeup, but I was to wear nail polish I'd probably choose "neon" colours :D

Miri,
You should have used a stunt double hand.

Internet? Too much private information?
One can never be too cautious.

I doubt my hand will cause a privacy issue. Lol

That is a sweet story in your OP, Miri. But then, you are such a sweet girl. Grown up girl, of course ;) Just among us girls, is it okay to call us girls? Please, men, don't try this at home :D

To the actual topic: I rarely wear nail polish. I am such a slouch when it comes to beauty products, although I prefer to say I am low maintenance... I do buy products, but rarely use them. How many tubes of lipstick can one girl buy thinking it will surely be the one to change her life? Make up for me is mostly for special occasions. Putting on a little lipstick and eyeliner when you are having a photo taken can also make a huge difference, if you care about looking good in photos. And let's face it: who doesn't? Otherwise it is just a bother I can live without.

However, nail polish is a different matter altogether, simply because it is time consuming to apply, and time consuming to remove, and pretty much looks like hell if you let it get worn down, chipped, and dull in the meantime. But I am low maintenance after all, haha. The last few times I have put on nail polish, I have let it wear off, and I scrape at it with my nails to speed the process, which can take weeks. I wait until it comes off easily, flaking away (with my help) as if from normal erosion :)

Remover is so vile smelling as well, even if it is acetone free I don't like it :p I don't care that the overall effect is unattractive with some nails partly coloured and other nails not at all. I actually have always had very nice nails, with a narrow nail bed, nicely curved, and they grow strong and so long they could be considered dangerous weapons LOL. I cut them back every once in a while when I notice them starting to really get in the way. Otherwise they will eventually weaken and break at the corner point where they depart my finger tip. This does not bother me either, because I know they will grow back to being a really nice length in six to eight weeks. After clipping them, I might file away any unevenness, but I give it a couple of days and then I file them. I mostly leave them alone after that unless there is a problem. I prefer them all to be roughly the same length. Right now my index finger nails are noticeably shorter than the rest.

In fact, I suggest to anyone with an important engagement upcoming, to trim your nails that much in advance if your nails are strong and grow well. And also, apply any polish the night before the big event, giving it time to dry and set properly.

I don't have any scanned pix of my hands with polish on the nails, but I think you may all be able to guess my favourite colours. Once many years ago, it must have been a long time ago because I was riding the bus (I have been driving since 2000) a woman sitting beside me commented about how brave I was to wear purple nail polish. I thought that an odd thing to say. But I just told her that I have never worn red. And I don't care for glitter either. I prefer my polish to be smooth and shiny, even, not see-through, and no going outside the lines. :D Matte for me is a horrible choice to make for nails. Polish means shine. Matte is dull.

I have been known to mix colours also. I like pearlescent,
and have been known to add purples to white pearl. :D

Here are a few images to show you what I might like:

^^ This is a nice shade :)

Of these, I think I would prefer poker face the best.

Time for some Lady Gaga!

Oh nice :D.

My nails grow very quickly due to the calcium supplements I take.
I don't wear lots of nail varnish, but I usually get the quick dry stuff.

Quick dry. Heh, they say that, but it still needs to set. Like, have you ever applied polish, thought it was dry, went to bed, and then woke up with the threaded sheet pattern embedded in your nail polish? Haha, I hate it when that happens. Plus the shine is gone! I have tried product also that says it speeds drying, top coat, undercoat, whichever it is, top coat especially just adds another layer that you have to be even more careful of not smudging and/or marring the whole thing. I also tried an undercoat product at least once, because I used to wear polish much more often, and when I removed it after prolonged use, my nails would be a wretched yellowy colour, not nice looking at all, and though that would pass quickly enough, it would always be tempting to just another application of polish to cover it. The base coat did seem to diminish that affect somewhat.

I have had complete strangers comment on my nails. A beautician once grabbed my hand and totally gushed over how lovely they were, and people often wonder if they are fake, but I have only ever faked it on a couple of Halloweens :D A guy tried to pick me up once because of my long finger nails. He was a foot fetishist and hoped I allowed my toenails to grow long too LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Can you imagine him noticing the length of my nails as he drove by in his car? Totally weird. He was cute, but he never did get to see my feet :D

If you look up long finger nails online, you get a lot of freakish images.
This is about as close to my nails that I could find :) But I do not
blunt the ends like that. I prefer them nice and rounded :D Also,
this would be my nails when they are close to their longest.
Any longer than this and they become a nuisance :p

Oy, hey, I found this. This is a good facsimile also :D

Though those fingers look nicer than mine, the nails
are quite similar to mine, and the right colour, too! ;)

For a while, I also used to give myself a French manicure look :D

My nails are short. I can't wear them long because of my contact lenses. I tried nail tips once and almost ripped my eyeball apart. I like this fuschia color polish quick dry by Sally Hansen. I also like this very light nude color by OPI. I don't paint my nails very often. Sometimes my daughter likes me to paint her nails and she paints mine. I usually end up with a rainbow of polish but that's okay, it's fun.

I find long nails to be a bit creepy.

- Are they any good for scratching your back?

I'll be honest lol. Personally, I prefer if a girl wears black, pink, or red. The one where they only have like the ends painted white(idk what you call it) is ok too. I'm not too big on any other colors :S. I also don't particularly care for long nails or unpainted nails. Idk why lol.
