I wasn't sure of the best place to post this question so I'll just post it here and hope than some Catholics can lend an opinion.

I just read a book by woman called Agnes Marie. In french it is called "Joie de Dieu" and in English, "Joy of God". It is all messages given to this woman Agnes Marie from Jesus, God the Father, Mary, and a few saints. Now I've read some books like this before, another one is by a woman called Anne from Ireland who publishes books with messages she receives, her website is available here: Official Resources for Lay Apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King

I have found nothing contrary to the teaching of the Church in any of these books, but as far as I know the Church never approves private revelation, so her local bishop I think has said he finds it ok.

Anyway, regarding "Joy of God". This book gives a very powerful warning to humanity that we are in very serious times. So at several points in the book, it says something along these lines, and it is Jesus who is speaking: "My enemy will sit upon the throne of Peter, but it will not be for long". Now some might see this as hinting at the next Pope being the anti-christ (we all know that Pope Benedict is not well). But this annoys me. I don't like the thought of it, as we are all taught to follow our Pope. So I had thought maybe it meant someone behind the scenes in the Church as opposed to the actual Pope. I'm a bit confused to be honest. I'm going to read the whole book again and maybe I will gain a better understanding.

But in the meantime, any comments on this?

I just went and found this part in the book and this is what it says, more precisely: "The beast with two horns (ecclesiastical freemasonry) will sit upon the throne of Peter. This time will be short as I will not allow it". It also mentions the "abomination of desolation" at this time, which I have come to believe is the absence of the Mass and the Eucharist, but I could be wrong in that. Just what I picked up.

Be careful of private revelations, even if the local bishop approves of it. There is one visionary who has her local bishops approval and her financial statements revealed that she is getting rich from her books and special, different type of rosary that she sells which supposedly is used to say the special prayers that were supposedly given to her. I read that she drives around in a new porsche.

They often claim that nothing in their messages goes against the bible, but the message that you just described, DOES in my opinion, because it seems overly simplistic. According to the scriptures there are many things which will identify and precede the antichrist, the two witnesses, a mortal wound to the head, etc.. I cannot imagine the vatican counsel even having this person rising to the position of cardinal within the church, nonetheless voting him into the pope's position. I'm not sure who the ecclesiastical masonry are, but I would not invest too much in some cult's interpretation of scripture.

There a few visionaries that I believe but there are some that I feel are suspicious, and there are some who are obvious fakes. You have to really discern what they say. God bless.

By the way, if you want to study visionaries, two that I recommend are Maria Esperanza and Pedro Regis. Maria gave a warning in NY city about something terrible was to happen there exactly three weeks to the day of 9/11 and she said it would happen in three weeks. Pedro Regis seems to have predicted the earthquake in Haiti and other natural disasters. When I say "predict" I mean that they were given warnings from heaven.

Oh I absolutely agree about being careful of private revelation. Totally. And I never would start to believe weird things or things against the Church based on them. But having read this book, I find nothing in it that would make me suspicious. And with what you said about it being overly simplistic, well I just picked that one small thing that confused me out of the book. And the woman who receives the messages definitely isn't making a load of money, she is pretty obscure and she allows people to photocopy and distribute her books as they like, just to get the message out there. Yes as you said, we have to discern with these things, and I think if you read the whole book you would think it was good, as the messages that are from Jesus are really urging humanity to come back to Him. But yeah... the thing about "the beast with two horns" or "the usurper" as it's called in another place, has got me a bit confused. But the fact that I'm plucking it out of the book out of context makes it hard to give an answer for those who haven't read the book so sorry about that. Another point about this is that at several points in the book it DOES say that we should always follow our Pope.
