What would you do if Jesus appeared to you, and said, "Child, I know you love me, and I love you, but your belief in ____ is wrong," and listed some core tenet or doctrine that you hold. Say, "trinity" or "resurrection" or whatever, pick any current view you have that you think is absolutely necessary for salvation....

What would you do if you found out you were wrong?

Would you doubt your senses? Would you say, "I know I must be right, so this can't be Jesus talking to me. I must be hallucinating, or maybe it's Satan trying to trick me."

Or would you ask him to forgive you for being wrong, and teach you the right way?

Or would you change your faith? Would you decide not to worship Jesus any more, if that's what He really teaches?

Or something else?

No right or wrong answers here. Just curious.

I would simply be obedient to whatever He directed me to do. Obedience is a simple act. Thinking it over, deciding the truth of the matter, pondering the results if you do it or if you don't, and asking yourself a thousand questions makes our walk with Jesus difficult and confusing. Simply saying, "Yes, Lord" makes it easier to follow Jesus and definitely brings JOY and PEACE!

Well if I had any doubts what so ever that it wasn't Jesus I think I would hit the floor with my knees and then I would pray and I would ask the Holy Spirit to live through me and to replace any lies and doubts with his truth and then I would laugh at the devil because I belong to Jesus and I think as a child of God the Holy Spirit leads you in his truth because you are HIS child. Our God does not let us dwell in a lie for long if you are a child of God you know this to be absolute truth in your soul. You feel the Holy Spirit inside of you living through you and you feel God all around you always so no lie would hold up, you see right through them. :D eventually. Pray Pray Pray and you just wont go astray :DOh and submit your will to the Holy Spirit every single morning your eyes pop open and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in his truth and to help you walk in his statues and to touch your mouth to speak words of love and life and for me I pray and ask Him to plz teach me to be a Lady for our God in everything I say and in every action I make and to help me walk in His truth and to please make me to be a humble servant that has a heart filled with the desire to please him above myself always. :D

This is just not true.

I like your response, to get on your knees and pray. But your sentence above is just not true.

There are people who disagree about things, and they both are sure they're right, and they "feel it in their soul" as you say, and they are both children of God. They can't both be right, because the two beliefs contradict, and yet both are sure they are right and the other is wrong.

If "God does not let someone dwell in a lie for long," this would not happen. But it does, and has been happening since the days of Paul.

That is about as far as it would get -- and I would know that this is not Jesus.

The Bible instructs me that, "when I see Jesus" - He will "appear" in the fashion that is described in these passages of scripture:

~ Isaiah 13:6-13
~ Isaiah 40:5
~ Joel 2:1-31
~ Zephaniah 1:14-18
~ Matthew 24:30-31
~ Mark 13:26-27
~ Luke 21:27
~ Acts 1:11
~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
~ 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10
~ Revelation 1:7
~ Revelation 19:11-16

"Just to name a few..."

If [someone] "appeared" to me (personally), claiming to be Jesus - I would immediately know that it was a lie...

:)

He's got better ways of convincing me than that.
