We cannot escape the fact that advanced technology is a part of every life today.
So much so that many seemingly cannot exist without it.
Cell phones are used for everything from shopping, banking, even washing clothes.
Is this really wise?
How are people who depend on a cell phone for everything going to live if power is off for an extended time, their phone server is down, their phone is lost, stolen, or broke, and replacement or repair in unavailable?
How much do you depend on this advanced technology?
I do not have a cell phone, debit card or credit card. Pay cash for everything. If a business will not accept cash I go elsewhere.
I have a land line with internet and a laptop that has little personal information.

Tools are what you make of them. You can choose not to use them, but they won't go away. You can build your whole life around them, but your life will falter when they falter.

I have a debit card that I use to make online purchases. I never keep money in that account unless I'm about to make a purchase. If there's nothing there, nobody can get anything out even if they do hack a server and get the card number.

I'm using a phone to make this post, but I don't use it for banking. If I did find a reason I needed to channel a payment option through the phone, it would be restricted to an account with a very small amount behind it, something I could afford to lose if the phone died or was stolen.

There's nothing wrong with modern tools as long as you think about how you're using them. Convenience is not always the most important consideration, but sedulously avoiding a new tool is probably not the best way to deal with it.

And adding to what Lynx said, I would say that people are very adaptable. If the world goes offline, we will adapt.

no, not wise. cash is still king. the 1st element for paying salary or bills, which is money, is still the best. the 1st communication device, the land line phone, is still the best. the 1st invention to listen to music is still the best, a record. i still am a 1970's guy.

A note regarding convenience

Philemon 1:8

King James Bible:
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

Berean Standard Bible:
So although in Christ I am bold enough to order you to do what is proper,

Amplified Bible:
Therefore [on the basis of these facts], though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is appropriate,

Holman Christian Standard Bible:
For this reason, although I have great boldness in Christ to command you to do what is right,

Douay-Rheims Bible:
Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:

Inventions are neutral. Americans have done their fair share of corrupting.
