As a mom of eight, when do you ever get to rest from running the kiddies here, there, and everywhere??? o_O

someone mentioned need petroleum for fertilizer, well actually you dont need petroleum to make fertilizer as fertilizer can easily be found in seaweed, manure, worm castings etc. Eg it can be organic, as syntheic fertilizers are actually shown to be detrimental to the soil, plus you can over fertilize and then the leaching of that fertilizer damages other ecosystems
True, but all commercial AG relies on NPK.
MUCH better would be the smaller farms fed with glacial water, but hydroelectric dams did away with that. Consolidated power did away with the old wood stoves and fireplaces to keep warm. Wood ash was spread on the gardens. Those trees provided more minerals than NPK. So do sea weed/ vegetables. Coastal gardens should make use of that. It's free for the collecting.

Don't forget doctor appointments! ;):D And dentists, ugh :giggle:
A good mother or father is very special, and all should recognize this. As for good mothers, the saying is true, their work is never done, yet they love the it.
Do not get excited, the latter applies to the dads to,.

hmm just thinking on this...any further thoughts

One poster mentioned car ownership might be a thing of the past but I think only in big, compact cities with good transport networks would that happen

I was thinking how in ancient times. the Silk Road functioned. They had camels and the camels would take a journey in a carvanserai and they would stop and rest and then fresh camels would take over like a relay so the camels wouldnt get exhausted - they would not trek the entire journey there.

In the Bible it talked about the camels not going through the eye of the needle. I think some people are really trying to push their camels through the eye of the needle, like look at me, Im so rich I can just pay for a ticket to heaven. Thats how the whole carbon credit emissions thing comes across as. Maybe there will at some point be a reckoning and the earth will vomit up all the stuff humans have been steadily poisoning the atmosphere with. A lot of cities that have been destroyed over time have been because of silting up of harbours (thanks sewage, industrial waste and landfill leaching) or just plain wars. But the. you look at the ruins of detroit and see the lessons of a city dependent on the motor car, once a metropolis, now an abondoned ghost town.
The Western world outsourced a lot of manufacturing to China and Japan. Detroit is what you get when there is no plan to replace dying industries. There are more cars than ever, just not made in Detroit. Other cities that once had heavy industries are suffering also.

The real problem of the world is spiritual. As people turn away from God, He leaves them to their own ways. It seems right to them, but it's the broad road to destruction for them. Christians should be salt, a preservative, and light, bringing truth and conviction to the lost. It's obvious that the church in the so-called Christian nations have failed to be either salt or light. Society reflects this failure.

In Australia, a man has lost his job because he attends a church that rejects homosexuality and says so. It was a high profile position in the sports world. At the same time, a town in Victoria erected a large rainbow to celebrate the wickedness of the LBGTQI crowd. I'm 71. I would hate to be growing up in this world.

Ask the people of Sri Lanka how easy it is to go organic. They have a famine because crops failed because of a failed experiment with alternative farming methods.

Anything to be aware of?
Yup - there's no infrastructure to support electric cars in the U.S. yet, and with their limited range, and a LONG re-charge time, long trips are out of the question.

I think what happened is people did little models of electric cars and it all worked in their little model but they didnt understand what a big problem it would be to scale it up lol.

you can lose your job for any stupid reason if your boss doesnt agree with you, but thing is, you can find another job -and do the good work the Lord wants you to do.

I can tell you children have no choice to grow up in this world thats full of darkness but its up to YOU to light the way for them. Dont give up being salt and light. Even if it costs you a job.

we have a mobile dentist clinic that stays at school for a few months.
There are also mobile libraries.
I always thought that heavy tonnage vehicles consumed more gas and were inefficient, while smaller cc vehicles were better suited in terms of transportation. I dont understand the huge double decker busses travelling round with hardly any passengers in them every hour or so, when there could have been smaller buses or even half mini vans taking passengers every five or ten minutes.

?!

There are many electric car owners here in Spain, at least where I live. Gas stations are equipped with stand up chargers, and many apartment parking areas and underground high rise parking also have chargin areas.
Since I cannot drive anymore, I kind of have a pet peeve with them. Walking eerywhere, I find the elctric vehicles too quite to be heard far away, and they do surpise me when I cross a street at tmes. I try not to stop cars whenever I cross streets but I do not hear the electric ones.. It is not such a disadvantage, but if they do not see, and I do not hear them, there ccould result a trffic statistic.

Well I think the biggest problem with electric cars is most people can't afford them
I'm looking into buying an electric bicycle soon though

I saw this thread title and immediately thought of 'ScaleXtric' cars... I suspect that wasn't the OP's intent.

My brother sold a few things and bought a Tesla earlier this year. He's very happy with it (and enjoys the ability to tromp anything else in a friendly drag off the line). He lives where climate, infrastructure, and typical travel distances make an electric vehicle feasible. If I moved to that area I might consider the same, but I still prefer driving a taller vehicle, so I'd probably choose a Rivian or something like that. (A hard No to the Tesla truck, thanks all the same).

Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular as technology improves and prices decrease. I think they are a great option for many people, particularly those who do a lot of city driving.
Nice 1-2 punch there. You waited until the second post to slip in the advertising link. You shills are getting smarter.

What I want to know is, where is my solar powered car?

All I can find are companies that are trying to start up manufacturing. Some of them have been trying to start up for more than a decade. I'm looking at you, Aptera. But none of them have got rolling yet, literally or figuratively.

Strangely every single one of them is very optimistic that they will start production sometime in 2023. But that's what they said last year about starting in 2022...

you dont need to ask people in sri lanka, you can see it in your own lands with bad farming practices
1930s dustbowl in mid west america.
2000s cancers, diabetes, and obesity.
There is an obesity problem in America but I believe part of that is because unhealthy food is cheaper.
I guess the problem with electric cars is it creates more problems than it fixes with all the strain on electrical grids

our son has a Prius (hybrid). his catalytic converter was stolen a few weeks ago. i think this theft is becoming common. when they say rare earth materials are needed for the construction of EV batteries, they're not just whistlin' Dixie.

39 people were injured in an apartment building fire a couple of weeks ago in Manhattan. the cause was a battery in an e-bike.

i'm not opposed to EVs, but i do think some further work needs to be done before they're really a viable option.

I plan to buy an e-bike soon to ride back and forth to work
2 miles to work and they will do about 20 miles an hour
