Michigan mom deported to Albania, didn't get to say goodbye to family

USA Today reports that Albanian national Cile Precetaj has been deported after a long legal battle with ICE. An asylum seeker, P. arrived in 2000 to avoid a dangerous ex and an Albanian crime syndicate. The mother of three was ejected from the US without notifying her family or being given the chance to personally say goodbye.

ICE claims they gave a 10-day notice and that this move was routine.

A theonomist friend is raising Cain about this and, while I agree it's tragic, the article (which all should read before commenting) leaves out a lot of detail. First, Mrs. P.'s intentions. While it's reasonable to assume she wished to stay after living here over a decade, some foreign nationals, even mothers, intend to return to their countries of origin when the situation changes, so they avoid a legal path to citizenship.

Second, the process itself is almost untouched. I know a bit about immigration, but am admittedly ignorant about the legal hoops involved in aslylum seeking.

Third, I'm dubious as to whether ICE gave proper notice. The government isn't exactly known for proportional responses.

IDK, it says she has no criminal record but the ones that I've heard about so far all had some criminal conviction in their background even though some media outlets said they did not. One woman was said to have had no criminal background and everyone was crying foul because she was being quickly deported but then it was revealed that she'd been arrested numerous times for domestic abuse and something else I can't remember over the years. So who knows.

It's a shame the news can't be trusted.

But could it ever be? I think the only cure for it is more information.

I don't believe anything the main stream media says especially about illegal immigration. The democrat congress is painting President Trump and his Administration as those who separate children from their parents. Well, any criminal in the US who does the crime does the time and they do not take their kids with them to jail. These immigration laws are the same laws during the Obama administration. But the news keeps reporting our President is doing this on his own and many Americans just swallow this FAKE NEWS as real news.

The truth is a rare commodity in the world. Only Jesus can bring truth and peace.

Our current treatment of immigrants will only hasten the judgement that's coming our way, unfortunately our elected officials don't get it, please pray for the nation! It's on us Christians to save this nation or else we'll all suffer the consequences.

A country must have strong boarders or it will be open to all kinds of criminal elements. The U.S. is by far the best in it's treatment of immigrants as well as illegal immigrants. What other country has such a pathetic boarder security? None. Gman., you need to ignore the fake news and get the true facts about the U.S. America supports immigration but not illegal immigration yet illegals come in anyway and are protected anyway. Not only that., classes are taught on how to by-pass immigration laws in many of the states. Sad to say these sanctuary cities are the worst for crime and welfare.

I agree with you that we need to secure our borders both of them by the way not just the one with Mexico because while we all worried about poor and destitute people looking for a way of life true criminals and terrorists can waltz right in from Canada. I think that we are one of the best Nations for immigrants and appropriately so because we are a nation of immigrants this has always been America's strength that we have the best from all over the world right here and moreover we are a Christian Nation that is just the right thing to do to help people who are in need. I'm not saying let everyone in but make a reasonable process for people looking for a better life to be able to come here as we do need the help and it's not going to take away from anyone. But now, we are detaining minors 8, 10, 12 year olds and then sending them back to be exploited and trafficked... do you suppose that God's not going to hold us accountable for this?

The U.S. is doing an amazing job with this situation and do in fact take care of minors who come in even when they come in illegally. It's astounding to me how the world and even some Americans think we don't already have a reasonable process for people looking for a better life here in the U.S.

There is a "legal" way to come in and an "illegal" way to come in. Those parents who come in illegally will be prosecuted because we are a country of laws. Without laws we would not function. The children who come in with these parents will be separated from their parents just as us Americans would be because you do the crime you do the time and they don't allow Americans to take their kids into jail with them., and so it is the same with legal and illegal immigrants.

It's not our fault when sex traffickers from all walks of life and all countries go after unaccompanied minors that the parents have left to fend for themselves. The ones that we have in custody go through the process here and are not left alone but are cared for medically too. Again., don't listen to the democrats or the main stream media's reporting. They condemn the Presidents daughter for a picture of hugging her child on social media.

We see the after effects of children left on their own and we have taken the proper steps in dealing with this. Our democrat congress would have you think otherwise and even condemn our President when all he and his Administration are doing is enforcing the laws Congress voted for already on the books. The democrats in congress are not interested in the people and their children, they are only interested in using whatever propaganda they can to bring this President down. He is doing what we have voted him in to do. He is not a globalist and thank God for that and that's one of the many reasons we voted for him.

God's wrath is on those who don't have Jesus Christ. Those who do have Jesus are forgiven and no wrath comes on us because Jesus took all wrath upon Himself for us. Rom.8:1-2 We need to tell this good news to others so they too can be forgiven and walk in right standing with God free from all condemnation and wrath.

I hope that it's as you say because all the reports I get say otherwise. I was shocked to find out we have those detention centers here in PA and I want them shutdown.
I know we're not appointed to suffer wrath but we're still here, and yes God is able to cover us but we'll still have to deal with the aftermath. Think about what recently happened in Houston Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, the Carolinas and no need to mention California... These are all signs that we're in the process of losing our blessings, which is why I'm praying and asking others to pray for our nation and elected officials.

I don't think we're getting the full story here.

The 41-year-old Albanian mother of three who was facing deportation last week received much needed good news this past Friday from immigration officials. Cile Precetaj was initially sent a deportation notice one week ago with a mere 24-hour deadline. However, Precetaj ignored the order and instead stayed at home with her three young children, ages 4, 6 and 11.

Precetaj's bold move turned out to be exactly what she and her family needed to pull themselves out of their predicament. She was granted a one year stay on her removal request, which is the longest extension given for a removal stay. She had also been forced to wear a tether or ankle monitoring bracelet but had it removed on Friday as well.

Precetaj's lawyer will have to file a stay of removal request each time her stay is up. If Precetaj has abided by the law and the government's requirements, then she should have no problem indefinitely extending her stay year in and year out.

The public backlash against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's initial decision to deport Precetaj appears to have helped sway the departments thinking on this situation. Now a married mother of three with no criminal record can continue to live in this country and ICE can pursue more pressing matters.
