I would be interested in chatting to individuals who have truly felt a strong pull to live holy and in the Spirit continuously.
To be set apart from the flesh and live as a living sacrifice, completely surrendered to His will.

Amen! And here, here. We are to seek the kingdom and the life that is waiting for us in Zion...in the presence of God. We have this high calling in Christ...to abide in Him and walk as He walked. Welcome here. (I'm new myself)

I tried ... but failed. I wanted to get in the Spirit and stay that way ... but I'm finding that it's incredibly hard for some people. At first, I was under the impression that all Christians are able to stay this way because God wants it that way ... but it dawned on me that freewill, sin, and the flesh have a far bigger stronghold on almost everyone than the desire to be in the Spirit 24/7. This bothers me, but I feel helpless to do anything about it. This helplessness slowly gives way to indifference. :( I'm not happy about it.

I wish you all the strength that God has to give so you can stay in the Spirit.

Actually that is why we are to come together to share our lives together...as in Acts. Very very few can handle walking in the Spirit for any length of time..if ever. It is like walking on a tightrope. Not impossible...but requiring a lot of focus. But the gifts in the Body are meant to edify each of us INTO that life...and keep us there. That IS a 24/7 kind of commitment. Meetings are ok...but that isn't where the life comes from.

I appreciate your honesty sister! :)

I pray for your joy to be full in Christ and with His church.

This is nice. It's also nice to fellowship and have a close bond with other believers who can hold you accountable. What's hard for me is having any sort of relationship at all ... outside of having a close bond with my parents. That being said, when I attend any sort of church, I am very standoffish. I am an introvert. At this stage of my life, I have lost the ability to feel safe around other human beings, and I often feel so threatened by being approached by others that I find ways to avoid people. Believe it or not, the world is getting worse. There are times when someone will knock on the door of my home and I am frozen, almost in a state of shock. I admit that I endured some nasty stuff in this life. The reality is that despite the fact that was in the past, people in the present are becoming way more violent and society is becoming increasingly hostile and unlivable. ... It bothers me that I don't know where that Louisville Slugger is located inside this house.

I don't know if I will ever open up to other believers or not.

Don't be discouraged. It's about progress (2 Peter 1:8--'increasing measure').

We aim for and desire perfection, but what we have along the way is progress towards perfection. As we grow, we respond in the perfection of Christ in more of our situations more of the time.

Be strong in the Lord. And rejoice in Him who is able to deliver you and strengthen you...because He cares for you! To He who is able to do more than we ask or even think...have faith in Him! You are not alone in this world. :)

It is the Gift and the point of the Christ's first Advent.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

And yet it remains largely unfulfilled due to a refusal in most to let go the cares of this world.
Will He find faith?

I got to go to work. Thank you for the reply. May the LORD continue to bless us in all HIS Way; Jesus Christ.

Welcome, KL!

We've been studying about the Holy Spirit again in church, and this rekindles the sense of wanting to know and please the Lord more. When some people talk abt holiness and living sacrifice, some are turned off thinking we are being holier than thou, when in fact we just want to understand better and obey what God's word is saying.

Yes, but what if for some reason a believer doesn't progress towards perfection? What if nothing really changes? What if they get worse?

I hope He moves me out into the boonies, but a place with good grocery stores with a lot of healthy organic vegetarian options ─ basically a place with very few people but plenty of opportunities. I normally consider this to be next to impossible, but if He can do it, then I hope he does. I'm sick and tired of laying my head down at night and being afraid for my life. I'm sick and tired of taking a walk and being afraid some thug is going to jump me. I'm sick and tired of being afraid to go to the grocery store because someone wants to pick a fight or shove my cart out of the way or threaten to pound me. Basically, I'm sick of humanity and I wish I didn't have to be a part of it. I can't wait until this world ends. I'm fed up with being full of fear and hatred.

Just keep waiting. The ministry of our failures is just as important as the ministry of the Spirit. Failure to please God is what kills us and prepares us for the ministry of Christ's life.

You may not be able to understand what I'm saying right now and that's okay. I know you probably feel far, far, far away from God right now but he will find a way to bring you near to him and fulfill the desire of your heart to be near him. He wants that too.

"14Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But that is not what God desires; rather, he devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from him. "-2 Samuel 14:14.
