Arminianism sees the Bible teaching apostasy and that God died for everyone.

Jesus did indeed die for the sins of the whole world... but Arminius only speaks half the truth. So does the evil Jean Calvin....a man who sent many who disagreed with him to a martyrs death by burning them alive.

Whenever you see an "ism" at the end of a word...it is from men and not from God. People try to balance other people out. But these are themselves out of balance.

I wrote a thread called "the divine equation" but this would be more like..."the human solution."

Explain where Arminius was "out of balance"?

They do think you can lose salvation

And they do think Jesus died for the whole world.

one I agree with, the other I do not

I would follow the word. Not arminian or calvin.

Where do you think Arminius isn't following the Word?

Arminianism is most closely associated with the RCC. A works based plan of salvation that mixes grace received through sacraments and obedience to ordinances of men.

Grace saves completely because Christ fulfilled all that the Father required. We do not sin without reservation. We are new creatures created unto good works in Christ.

Each reproduces after his kind. Wheat produces wheat and tares produce tares.

Likely if you encounter someone who thinks they can lose their salvation you're encountering an Arminian Christian.
This link gives very good comparisons between Arminianism and Calvinism.
Prevenient Grace, divine grace that is said to operate on the human will antecedent to its turning to God .

Arminianism emphasizes conditional election based on God's foreknowledge, man's free will through prevenient grace to cooperate with God in salvation, Christ’s universal atonement, resistible grace, and salvation that can potentially be lost.

I've met a lot of Christians who, like myself, believed for a while that they could do something to offend God and lose their salvation. I've also seen many of them (including myself) change their mind on that as they came to trust God more and more.

I thought I could be cut off and have the Holy Spirit taken from me for many years and I had no idea what armenianism was or what it stated.

You have not read Arminius' works. You really should.

You still have no idea about Arminianism if you think that is what Arminus wrote.

Yes, and I still have no idea what the man has said.
I was replying to orchids post saying if you meet a Christian who thinks they could be cut off, you are most likely talking with an Arminian Christian.

And so I was pointing out that I used to believe it and never read a single thing by the man, so...
