For it is written, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing (Isaiah 10:27).

Remembering that the Old Testament is a shadow and a type of the New, it's important for us to understand how this particular scripture holds true to the inheritance we have in Christ Jesus. The Assyrian nation was the enemy of God's people. They bullied, oppressed, terrorised, and stole from the Israelite nation. They were not only a tremendous burden to her people, they had the nation bound by fear. Just the same, we have an enemy, the devil, who constantly assaults and attacks our minds with fear filled thoughts. He manipulates circumstances to bully and threaten us and for the most part, he has convinced much of the body of Christ that sickness and poverty and misfortune are their lot in life. So his yoke around their necks is securely in place without any resistance from them.

But the scripture in Isaiah goes on to say that the yoke shall be destroyed because of the fatness. In other translations, that word fatness is referred to as the anointing oil. According to the Word of God, because of the finished work of the cross, when we believe in and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are made to be co heirs with Him. That means as our inheritance we are not only saved and delivered from the burden and bondage of the devil, but we have become one in Christ.

The word Christ means the Anointed One and His anointing (It also means JESUS and the Church)! The anointing is part of our spiritual inheritance, it's the power of God that is in us to not just remove, but completely destroy the yoke of the devil over our lives. In the original Greek, verse 27 of Isaiah 10 says that the anointing oil prevents the yoke from going around your neck. So, if we believe that Jesus has broken the curse of sin over us, and defeated our enemy the devil for us, and made us co-heirs with Him. Then we never have to accept anything that is outside of our inheritance ever again. And as we remain in faith, and continue to live being filled and led by the Spirit of God, the anointing that is in and on us will prevent the devil from ever placing his yoke of bondage around our necks again!

Amen! Thanks for sharing and reminding us about the powerful inheritance we have in Christ. We’re indeed co-heirs, delivered from every bondage and sin. Halleluiah. Blessings to you, friend.
