9 But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

why did the devil want the body of Moses?
I think he wanted it , to use to deceive.

how would he have made a deception tool of the dead body?

the dead body of Elisha had the power to bring life back to the dead. maybe the body of Moses had power like this. Elisha also had a double portion of the spirit of Elijah, what ever that means.

To hope to use it as a idol image (teraphim ) so that men would walk by sight rather than the unseen faith as it is written ,As it is written, the one source of Christian it faith makes the devil flee.

God uses Moses and Elisa in a parable to represent the law as to the letter that which kills (Moses) and the prophets (Elisa) as to the spirit of the law, that which heals

But they are long gone their bodies have returned to the dust from where it was taken from .Its a picture his d in a parable.... the law and the prophets communing with Jesus .Not the flesh and blood.

Mark 9:4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

Moses who represents God as the law giver is typified as not entering the promised land till heaven and hell pass away in orderto fulfill the law below

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.Mathew 5: 18

an idol representing who?

Representing Moses before his flesh returned to the dust from where it came from. Rachel used what scripture call workers with familiar spirits in that way. to try and commune with those not seen using teraphims, idol image. They are needed seeing when a unholy spirit is conjured up it always comes up as Legion(many). so a face as a idol image (teraphim) must be used to distinguish one from the Legion (many) .

The Catholics like Rachel have 3500 and rising idol images available (patron saints) to purchase to try and commune with the dead .(necromancy )

There is only one person that can seek after that has no form after the one manner ,,,, Our father in heaven .Not our relatives or those of the renown.

When King Josiah found the Bible book of the law He was moved by the Spirit of Christ to put them away .Men are quick to make idols of the things seen.

2 Kings 23:24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the "abominations" that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about
the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said,

“The Lord rebuke you.”But these [speak evil] of those things which they know not:
but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.”

That was talking about the most evil being ever to exist.

I am not sure why there was this dispute over the body of Moses,
but this does show we are [not to speek evil of dignitaries].

Jesus Christ showed respect to every human ruler He came into contact
with, not because of the men [only], but because of the offices they held.

He didn’t even [rail against those] who murdered Him. The Apostle Paul wrote:
“For there is [no authority] except from God, and those that exist have been instituted
by God. Therefore he who resists the authorities resist what God has appointed ”
-

Now about The vision of the Transfiguration (Matthew 16:27 through 17:9) gave
the apostles Peter, James and John a preview of Christ coming in his kingdom.

We know that Jesus Christ is to be King of kings, and Lord of lords
over both state and church, united through him.

One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth
with you. There will be one Church—one God—one religion—one educational
system—one social order.

These two Moses and Elijah, in the vision, represented the offices of church and state,
with and under Christ, as they will be in God’s kingdom in the near future.

Moses was the one through whom Christ gave the laws and the statutes of
government Moses was trained as a son of a pharaoh (king of Egypt). His
training and experience were among gentiles, as well as the children of Israel.

Elijah, above all others, is represented in Scripture as the prophet who
restored the worship of the true God—and obedience to his commandments.
When Elijah ordered King Ahab togather on Mount Carmel “all Israel”
(1 Kings 18:19-21)through(verse 39).

i dont know, Joshua and Kaleb looked like pretty capable leaders, i dont see them falling into this "moses" religion and turning from the Most High.
Catholics dont worship idols as the Most High.

Joshua and Kaleb walked by faith the unseen .they did not worshp dead things as if they were alive

Catholic use idol images to put a face on their legion( many) workers with familiar spirits (3500 and rising) that they must call patron saints whom they do worship and they call venerating.

They would love the body (bones) of any saint to be used to venerate the more the merrier. they teach that the transfiguration were the actual persons and not that they were used to represent the law an the prophets as figureheads .Its what necromancy requires worship dead things as if they were still living.

Satan opposes God. The fact that God buried Moses in an unmarked grave confirms He didn't want the body found. Likely the reason was to prevent the grave from becoming a shrine, since the Israelites struggled with idolatry.

So if we base it only on these facts that we know, the motives of satan can be seen.

Some say satan (the accuser) was protesting a future resurrection of Moses.

But I think the lesson to be learnt is actually in how Michael dealt with satan....

Jude 5-9: "But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
Sodom had an archaeological dig done. The lower city was turned into dust with a pyroclastic (super hot) blast and the upper city had its buildings sheared off. Proof of the power of God!!

Moses struck the rock twice instead of speaking to it as God had commanded....the punishment was death and not allowed to enter the promise land Numbers 20
Why do you change what the Bible clearly states. Moses was not killed. He was only forbidden to enter the promised land. Hang your head in shame!!

I would add. Moses is the one used to represent God as a father not seen as the law giver. When he struck the rock which represented Christ twice, the living water was used to represent the gospel came out .A picture of Isaiah 53 The father striking the son once .
Striking it twice spoke of double jeopardy as if one work was not enough.

Once was that which was required to represent the law will no pass away till the new heavens and earth appear as the new order .The law of Moses that kills will not enter the new

Just as Moses did not enter the temporal land that pointed to the eternal not seen, the new heavenly Jerusalem. Gods law in respect to a corrupted creation will not enter the true promised land... the new heavens and earth (no death) no need for the letter of the law.

Matthew 5:18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Luke 16:17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

The Moses' body was Israel's people:

  • "And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?" (Zech 3.1,2).

I suggest you find something to do with your time and actually study the bible and throw the Apostle's creed in the trash....MOSES struck the rock, was judged by God, allowed to see the land, was not allowed to enter, and God took his life at the age of 120 even though he was as healthy as a 20 year old, no dimness of eye etc.....

God told Moses your going to climb the mountain, see the land and DIE, why....because of his sin of striking the rock....your nothing but a religionist cake taker and exactly why I rarely respond to your drivel.

"Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink.

and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock. And he said to them, "Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?"

Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank

But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, the time for you to die is near; call Joshua, and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, that I may commission him." So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the tent of meeting.

So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

I read that archaeologists discovered fragmented skeletons, pieces of bone, charred on one side with a glaze. They say that if a potter were to use glaze such as that he would need to have a furnace of 2000 degrees!!! Also the fact the area was so close to the Red sea there would have been spumes of salt erupted as a result, which would've encased Lot's wife when she disobeyed God.

Some say it was an asteroid. I believe God likely chose to use an asteroid and set it on the path towards Sodom and Gomorrah right on target. Of course non believers will claim it was a tragic natural disaster that wiped them out, denying the hand of God in it. I think it's somewhere in the Psalms that mentions the sky raining fire, brimstone and sulphur.

What's interesting to me, and I find very comforting, is that EVEN though Moses disobeyed, and fouled up the model of the Rock representing Jesus only needing to be struck once, THE WATER STILL CAME OUT!!

How great is our God?!

No, Moses was definitely not killed. While he was not allowed to enter the Promised land because of his display of anger, God loved Moses dearly and calls him a faithful servant in God's house.

But God had something better for Moses than entrance into the Promised Land. God gave him a very long, blessed, and productive life, and although he died at the age of 120, he was in perfect health. He could have probably passed for 50 or 60.

But here's the amazing thing. God personally buried him in the land of Moab. It would appear that Satan somehow became privy to where Moses was buried, and wished to become a body snatcher, and grab the body of Moses (presumably to make his relics into an object of idolatrous worship). But God sent Michael the archangel to stop Satan, and Satan was unable to grab his body.

We are not told where the spirit and soul of Moses went at the time of his demise. But it would be reasonable to expect, that since Moses had an extraordinary burial, that God took him to Heaven, just as He took Elijah to Heaven. So when these two outstanding prophets appeared at Christ's transfiguration to meet with Him, and talk about His departure (exodus) from the earth, they both came from Heaven (rather than Sheol).

The bible says Moses died [not killed] and was buried by God

In Deuteronomy 34:6 we read also how God took Moses from the people
after which he died and was buried by God. "But no man knoweth his
sepulchre unto this day." God removed Moses - God translated him -
and he was not found !
