I LOVE hearing stories about how married couples first met. At a family gathering this past weekend all my aunts/uncles, grandparents, and parents were sharing their stories and some of them were so awesome! So I thought, why not start a thread about it? :D Please share stories about how you first met your husband/wife!

We met on MySpace. I was a huge Obama supporter(I was only 19 at the time) so my MySpace was all decked out as "GirlForObama '08" and he looked through my pictures I guess, and found my vampire album in which I dressed up like a vampire and took pictures, and he was like "Hey, nice pictures."

Our first date, I told him to come see me at the restaurant I was working at(since I didn't know who he was and I wanted to conduct it on my own turf) and I had a plan set up with my sister where if he turned out to be a jerk I'd text her SOS and she'd call me and I'd tell him that my friend was in an accident so I'd have to go pick her up, except then we realized that I don't have a driver's license("I have to go pick her up on my bicycle!") so we changed the scenario so she can come pick me up to go see the friend in the hospital. He turned out to be a perfect gentleman though, and it was love at first sight.

I met my husband 16 years ago, walking home from high school, he carried my books home for me! We got married 5 years later, got divorced in 2002 and got remarried to each other in 2007. Today we have 5 kids together and are still deeply in love with each other.

I met my husband at a church that I used to attend. My friend at the
time had invited me to attend youth night with her and my husband's
friend who I knew had invited him to attend to. I remember seeing him sitting in the front pew and thinking that he was really cute. Well after services we went into the gym and ate pizza and my husband had no place to sit down and I remember saying you can sit in front of me I don't bite. So I listened to him talk about various things with our friends. Than after we were finished eating we all went outside and I told my twin sis that I thought he was attractive so she proceeded to walk up to him and say my sister thinks your hot (lol) go talk to her. He ended up coming over and talking to me and right before I had to leave he said do you want to go out with me and I said I guess and we have been together every since. We married 3 years after we met and are fixing to celebrate our 2 yr anniversary of being married and 5 yrs of being together.

Sorry that was so long I just really enjoy telling that story. I still get excited talking about it.

God moved me to a new church, i went, one day i saw this girl getting out of her car - God said " there is your wife" i looked up to heaven and so, "hmm ok, whatever you say", didnt even know her yet and God has me married off. I left it at that, didnt persue anything. So then 12 mths later im involved in ministry, the girl turns out to be the personal assistant to the pastor, so i had to interact on a regular basis, which turned into a good working realtionship then a friendship. Still i gave no thought to "this is your wife", then one day walking to the church i felt this overwhelming feeling that i love her, so when i got to the church i was going to ask her out for coffee and tell her my feelings. So when i get there she is all excited about something, i convince myself that God has done the same thing with her, was i wrong, she was excited cause one of my good friends had asked her out for coffee, my heart sank, boom - that sinking feeling, yet i made a heart decision to honor her and stand on gods promise, yet encouraged their relationship thru out.

That went now where for them yet i bided my time and yahoo we hooked up Gods word come to pass and we got married and have two beautiful daughters, so the most encouraging thing i want to say to anyone is dont look at the natural, trust God with the Word He gives you it will come to pass regardless, just be faithful He comes thru everytime

My hubby and I met in a "case of mistaken identity" online. I thought he was a Christian counselor I used to chat with when I was a teen. This man was older, and was just a nice Christian guy... so my computer crashed and we couldn't fix it for quite some time. When we came back, I was hunting all over trying to find the contacts I had. I found who I thought was my old Christian counselor friend...

My now husband and I chatted on and off for a few weeks before once I asked him, "So... how's your horse?"... That's when we realized that we didn't know each other and had been chatting intimately for the past few weeks thinking we did. ( (Intimately, like friends... as there had been no romantic involvement with the other older counselor... had to make that clear))...

Anyway, when we finally figured out the mistake, I was ready to say bye and sorry, but he pursued the friendship/relationship and proposed the day we met face to face. We have surely had our bad points... but it's going to be 11 years in April and 3 kids later.

I belonged to a group online, and those that could would get together in different states and do the site seeing thing. When they were going to Boston, it was close enough and cheap enough for me, being a single mom in Canada.

In the evenings, after a few drinks in the hotel bar, we would all go to the room I shared with anther girl. One night there was a knock on the door, it was a local guy who seen us all having so much fun in the evenings and wanted to know who we were and from where, as we all had different accents. He asked if he could join us, we said yes, then he asked if he could bring a friend, so he came back a few minutes later with a friend of his.

So many people in the room were smoking, and it was bothering me, so I turned to first person on my right, and asked if they wanted to go for walk and get fresh air. That person was the first guys friend.

We went outside, I in bare feet and started to walk, he took off his shoes, let me wear them, and he wore just his nice white socks.

We ended up having a long distance relationship, he got a computer and we chatted online, on phone, and he would come to Canada often to see me.

My daughter hated him at first, calling him a stinking pollutant, and putting up signs and even writing on balloons saying to him, "Go the hell home"

I was surprised that she didn't scare him away, he said that was what he liked, she didn't want him intruding in her space, and obviously I didn't have revolving door, lol.

She came to love him, and he asked me to move to states and marry him.

I love him so much, and it has been just over 7 years, and my health has gone down hill, economics suck, my life is not as it was in Canada, but I can say I have a husband that loves me, and I love him,,,,, something I didn't have before.

My daughter is now off to college, and we are one happy family as far as love.

Haha thanks for sharing. I haven't heard anything like this before. I too wish and pray God can do that for me one day. I'm not looking right now, but it would be awesome if God will do that for me.

I was involved with a Christian group at my campus, and a group of us were going to volunteer for a church thing 45 minutes away. (The "thing" was called 'The Nightmare' and it was a realistic portrayal of the top 5 killers of teens, and the message of Jesus saving grace at the end--pretty powerful!) Anyway, I was standing in line with the other volunteers waiting to find out my assignment when this weird guy with a shaved head starts talking to me. We made small talk and then got busy and went our seperate ways. At the end of the night I saw him and we started chatting again.

He asked me if I was going to volunteer again the next night. I said no because I didn't have a car to get there. He said he would come pick me up. A 45 minute drive to pick me up, 45 minutes to get me to church, 45 minutes to get me home and 45 minutes for him to drive back??? He said no problem, he liked to drive.

So I guess that next night was our "first date." He listened to weird music and we didn't have much to talk about, but when he drove me home that night he asked to take a detour to an old apartment he grew up in. When we got there, he started crying saying he hadn't been there for years and it brought back a lot of painful memories--awkward! I barely knew this guy!

That night as I was showering, I got an overwhelming sense that I was going to marry this guy. "But he's weird! I'm not going to marry him!" But somehow I just knew I was.

Me and this guy (Dan) were friends for 2 years. We chatted online and he drove me NUTS. Sometimes I couldn't stand him! But eventually we started hanging out more and more and we started to have feelings for each other (to this day I don't know how that happened.) Then, just as we were about to get serious I knew I had to tell him my secret. "I do drugs. A lot. I'm a drug-user... maybe an addict." That sure put a wrench in our plans!

He told me he wouldn't date a drug user so I need to make a choice--him or drugs. Long story short, I chose him (although I almost changed my mind several times), and he stood his ground and would not give an inch on the issue. I relapsed several times, but steadily made progress, and he supported me with tough love the whole way. To this day I have been married for 3 1/2 years and clean for 4.

Praise the Lord!

Not married yet, BUT my boyfriend of 1 1/2 years & I met at Hume Lake Christian Camp. He was a counselor, I went as a camper that year. He was the one that always wore the "free hugs" shirt & the cute one at camp that I looked for everyday. What I didn't realize is that he went to the same church that I did, he was just usually away at college. He thought I was 16 & too young for him. I thought he was cute (he's also a marine), and all the other girls said we would be a cute couple, but I didnt' think he would ever be interested in dating me. The youth pastor ended up talking to him & telling him that I am 18 years old & graduated & kind of pushed us together.

We've been dating for 1 1/2 years now.
Our "youth pastor" is now the pastor at our new "sister" church.
