This post might not be for anyone else but me. This is what i need to hear right now. So here it goes...

Matthew 26:39 states "And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt"

This passage is where Jesus was praying to his heavenly father before he was crucified. He asked God to let this cup pass from me. In other words, He wanted God to make it to where he wouldnt have to endure such suffering. But he also prayed not my will but thy will.

Many times during difficult times, i would ask God to take whatever im facing away. I neglected to pray not my will but thy will be done. Thats where we go wrong at. It may not be Gods will. He may be preparing you for something better. We just have to have trust in God that he will bring us through, just like Jesus prayed. Jesus did not have to die. But if he didnt, where would we be?

I have prayed that many times over the years, sometimes He has taken it away, usually not.... But if He would have taken it away from Messiah there would be no hope. G-d would have been a liar from Torah, Gen 3:15. All the atheist would be right; if the world would have made it this long!!!!

I can't begin to count how many times this rang true for me and it is in those times that I feel the most like a small desperate child calling out for him yet seemingly receiving no answer and so many times it's so hard just to deal and make it through the times like this sometimes it even lasts for months

Even though God's way for us is the most rewarding way in terms of outcome, it clearly is the hardest way.

I kept finding myself in a particular situation. No matter if I changed situations, venues, etc, the same problem confronted me. I know what my calling is and have been waiting for God to open the doors. But this problem that arose seemed to feel like it was going to be permanent. Finally, instead of battling it, I just said to God, "You handle it." and since that happened, doors have opened to many blessings including financially.

Although I am still waiting for the door to open to my calling, I finally understood that there are problems that will arise and become thorns in our sides. I am learning to not battle it on my own, but to give it to God. I feel this lesson is a part of my growth that will eventually open that door. And basically, I have learned when anything small or big faces me, to give it to God immediately. Because ultimately, it is about not my will, but about Your Will be done God!!

wow I wish I knew my calling like that I just sort of go with the flow and let him use me however he can. Not to say this is a bad thing as he seems to take my willingness and go all the way with it but as for my actual calling I have yet to find out but I love your testimony here:D

This post reminded me of what God tells us in 1 Peter 5:6-10.

We are never alone in our trials and tribulations. God is with us at all time and He perfects, stablishes, strengthens, and settles us from the inside as we face our most difficult times. And when we are through our light affliction (which is but for a moment), we are stronger so we can stand firm and not get knocked about by the storms of life.

My Grandfather and Father were both ministers. My Grandfather told me I was called to preach/teach. But after years of following my Grandfather and then Father, I stupidly rebelled. I ended up so deep in my pit that when I looked up I still only saw the bottom. Just before my Father passed away we were talking scripture again. I grew close to my Father. And when he finally passed I rededicated my life.

There are a few things that need to be fixed and it is happening. But in the mean time, I had some personal lessons I needed to learn from God. And the biggest lesson was giving my problems to him. I got into a habit of being my own fixer. And even though things were decent, they could have been gold standard had I given it to God.

So basically, I could have just easily walked into my calling with no problems attached. But I personally believe God let me do it the hardest way possible. Yeah, I have some stories I can share now, some examples of overcoming, and I can reach a different kind of people I never could have before, but in the long run, I also wasted precious years with my Father.

Not any more though, I have never been more focused than I am at this point, than at any other point in my life. One true man of God told me, I had to do what I did because my calling is for the End Times hahahaha He claims that many before the resurrection (second coming - rapture) will be ran away. But he claims, I will be a force for God and not shaken nor afraid!!

Time will tell!!

Thanks for sharing this wonderful reminder, friend. It’s natural in our difficult circumstances to ask for favor but God’s will is the best plan for our lives. Reminds me of Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Sadly and trust father can attest to this I always have to learn things the hard way lol. I don't mean to be such a stubborn child but a lot of times he allows me to go through a lot to finally learn my lesson but I learn it it sticks. It is interesting you mention your calling for the end times because while I don't know exactly what it is there is this feeling or sense of knowing inside that mine is for the end times and occasionally I receive strange dreams and sometimes visions of it but I don't tell many about it because in all honesty even as a Christian one might think me crazy or at least just feeding my imagination or something

I bet you have a good idea of what your calling is. I bet you pray for others, help others, and direct them in the areas you socialize and live within. I bet you will be a strong witnesses and be able to lead them to Christ. We are all ambassadors/evangelists for God even though we do not stand behind a pulpit. But what we do on the ground floor is just as valuable as someone who can preach to thousands at a time!!

You know, I honestly believe some of us had to be stiff necked to become what God has planned for us. I imagine the end times as horrible and not fun for the followers of God. Persecution, injustice, lack of church freedom, our words will be watched for what is preached, just things unimaginable is coming our way. And we need to be strong for God. And I believe the things some of us have experienced are preparing us for it!!

Can you really say what things could have been? There are no accidents with God. Romans 8:28 says all thing work together for good in our lives. Therefore we can't strive for perfection, we must generally settle for doable. But doable is okay.

Very True!!

But, had I allowed God to make my decisions, many things that were unnecessary that took place would not have. My own choices lead to an eventual trap, where God leading us leads to fuller meaning and sets us up for greater things.

A lesson I learned long ago. When I pray, I say "If it be Your will Lord............."

Nothing wrong with asking to receive things, have Him take things away, save us from things, whatever. As long as we pray that He do so IF it is His will for us. Then, whatever He answers will be a true blessing to us.

In the end, it is exactly that. We need to surrender to God completely .
It is always His will and not our will. When we are able to lift ourselves up and sit on God's knee, we will be able to absorb His will...as scripture says
we become a new creation.
