This is the Introductions forum.. :) Tell us something about yourself.

Also, I don't think too many here are from Scotland.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

My wife and I moved to this small town (population 6,000) just over a year ago. I'm really struggling to find Christian fellowship.
We used to go to an independent church about 15 miles away and I was heavily involved in teaching ministry but we left because there was a lot of things going on that weren't right.

Where we live now there are only three, small traditional churches (Church of Scotland & Episcopal Church). We went but decided they weren't for us. So, for quite a long time now, we have been having 'church' just the two of us at home. On Sunday mornings we use Youtube songs for worship and then we study the Scriptures together and pray. So far, we have looked the the Sermon on the Mount, James and now 1 Peter. On Wednesdays, we do Bible study together. We've gone through the book of Ephesians but now my wife is doing her own self-study bible study (Derek Prince) and I'm looking at the Gospel of Luke.

I also like writing and have started a Blog page which people can find at www.faithworks.life

blue_ladybug - I've put a little about me on my profile page. But here's a quick summary:

Brought up in a good middle class home (non Christian), but it all went pear shaped when my father left when I was 15. I rebelled a lot after that. Got in with the wrong people; took drugs and ended up getting done for possession of drugs and theft but I didn't have to serve time in jail. I also dabbled in the occult.

After that I wised up a bit and managed to get a really good job in the city of London in stockbroking. Loved the money and lifestyle but in the end found it didn't satisfy. I quit my job and then my materialistic girlfriend left me. I left everything behind and travelled around Africa hoping to find the meaning of life but it evaded me but I did come back a different person.

After Africa, I eventually wound up in a Baptist church; agreed to do a bible study and when I got to Luke 15 and read about the Prodigal Son, I felt really convicted of my sin and need of Jesus. So, in 1990, I prayed the sinners prayer and was born again. Shortly after that, I was baptized in water. Six months after that, I believe I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues.

Shortly after that I went to a small Bible college in London. After graduating, I moved up to Scotland. At first I worked in a rehab helping alcoholics and drug addicts. Then I helped a pastor start a church in Edinburgh. Then I moved further north and helped this same pastor start a drug rehab which was under the umbrella of Teen Challenge. I worked with drug addicts for over 15 years, having also been to India and Hong Kong and Florida along the way.

After feeling burn out I quit my job at the rehab about 4 years ago. I've been a delivery driver up until now but had to quit that last week due to back problems (delivering fruit and veg was quite heavy work). I should be starting a job as a Support Worker for people with disabilities in less than a month's time.

Well, that's a little about me - well a quick summary of my life so far anyway.

God bless you all :)
