Hello. Yeah, I'm one of 'Them', except for the fact that a month ago I started having a very un-atheist urge to go to church. I spent most of my life a neo-pagan and flirted with Christianity here and there, but for several years now I was comfortably atheist. Was comfortably atheist. Was. Then this urge, this drive, something compelled me to try church again. I don't know what it is. I am quite in denial about it all. I refused to go to church, flatly refused to go! That lasted one week then I caved and went to church and found it's kinda good in there, which is against everything I recently believed yet I keep going. And now I feel strongly that I should reach out and talk to Christians. Even went to a Bible study and made my way here. I don't know what I believe about it all, but I have decided I might as well continue going to church and trying to meet Christians and see what happens. I find Jesus quite compelling, but as for the rest of it? I guess I gotta try and have an open (but not empty) mind. I guess I'll go kick around the forums and chats and meet some folk now. But sleep first. Greetings to all.

Hello and welcome!
Crystal clear to me that the Lord is calling you. Glad you responded. Not sure if the Church you went to has yet to clearly articulate THE GOSPEL UNTO SALVATION. but here it is:
God wrapped Himself in flesh in the form of His Son Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, suffered, was crucified, died to pay your sin debt, and was raised to life on the 3rd day.
Confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, and you WILL be saved.
At that point the Holy Spirit will indwell you and seal you until the day of redemption. He will guide and discipline you to become more and more like the image we were created to be.

He has died for you because He loves you, and wants you to be with Him eternally.

I pray in His Name you will accept and receive this Gospel.

Amen, GOD has always been by your side. Please don’t ignore that tug in your heart . I wish I was some wise person that had something profound to say that would convince you to accept Jesus. You said you find Jesus compelling but not so much the rest. Well in the interest of space let me just say” Jesus “ there is nothing else. Accept him truly in your heart that he loved you enough to Die for YOU. Not just us or them. Jesus has done everything else. Following him is all you have to do. May GOD be with you.

Thank you all for the kind greetings and kind words. I'll admit I was actually a touch nervous because I wasn't sure how I would come across. I am sincere in seeing where this leads, even as I find it confusing and don't know what to believe regarding this Sudden Idea to try church again. I still hesitate to imagine I've been 'Called'; what would God want with an atheist anyway? I'm not unfamiliar at all with Christian teachings. In fact even as an atheist I still found it interesting to read debates about different perspectives in religions. So I do understand the principle that God reaches out to all humans to try to bring them into the Light (I guess that's how you say it), but it is different to have that understanding intellectually and then to have the experience. The experience is shattering my nicely cultivated Atheism, and thus the identity I carved for myself. Anyway, I guess I'll stop rambling here and start kicking around the forums, see where I can ask questions.
Thanks again for all the warm greetings. I do appreciate it.

I am indeed familiar with the idea of the Salvation. Thank you, and greetings! :)

I kinda like that. Follow Jesus, everything else will take care of itself. For now I'll keep going to church and talking to Christians and see what happens. Greetings, and thanks.

Welcome to CC Solider

Always love attempting to answer seekers questions.. The best place to go to find out about Jesus is by reading the Gospels and the letters of the apostles.. But getting the thoughts of Bible believing Christians can assist in the process of discovery.. I hope i can help you in your seeking..
