I ran across this video on YouTube - John MacArthur OUTRAGE: Take the Mark of Beast, still be saved. False Teaching

Rev. 13
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has [g]the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Rev. 14
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Zechariah 11
17 “Woe to the worthless shepherd,
Who leaves the flock!
A sword shall be against his arm
And against his right eye;
His arm shall completely wither,
And his right eye shall be totally blinded.”

Matthew 5
29 If your right eye causes you to[j]sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to [k]sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

I understand it is pure speculation to say that those who accept the mark MAY still be saved IF they follow Jesus' instruction to cut off RIGHT hand (same hand as receiving the mark) and RIGHT eye (perhaps that is what John meant by forehead?)

Dear Rosemaryx and others,

I listened to the Q & A and I never heard Dr. MacArthur said "if we took it we would be ok."

Note that the question that was asked of Dr. MacArthur was: “Once a person takes on the mark, is there any possibility of him coming to Christ?”

I omitted his introductory answer, but here's how Dr. MacArthur responded:

"The question is, “If you’re living in the tribulation period and you take this mark, you identify with the beast empire, will you still be able to be redeemed?” I think the answer to that is yes. Otherwise, there would be no salvation of anybody in the end of the tribulation. And you’ve got to have the salvation of folks at the end of the tribulation. You’re gonna have the Jews redeemed. You’re going to have, according to Revelation 7, an innumerable number of Gentiles redeemed. So many of them cannot even be counted across the face of the Earth. So I don’t think the fact that someone takes that is a sentence to permanency anymore than you being a part of this world system once in your life means you have to be a part of the system all your life, especially when the 144,000 don’t start their ministry till the second half. That’ll make it a little tough."

Remember that the question asked was: “Once a person takes on the mark, is there any possibility of him coming to Christ?”

While the Tribulation will be a time of judgment, a multitude of people will also be saved. That means, no one can count that number of people who will be redeemed at that period. (Rev. 7:9; 14). The 144,000 are the missionaries from the 12 Tribes of Israel who will evangelize both Jews and Gentiles during the Tribulation. And taking the mark of the beast does not mean that those who did so are beyond the reach of God's saving grace.

Grace to You ministry responded to that voice video of Dr. MacArthur Bible Q & A which was posted on YouTube. Here is their response:

He said and i quote your quote::

""""The question is, “If you’re living in the tribulation period and you take this mark, you identify with the beast empire, will you still be able to be redeemed?” I think the answer to that is yes."""

Thats a definite yes you can be saved after recieving the mark of the beast.. And that is totally wrong.. Anyone who recieves the mark of the beast will be cast into the eternal lake of fire..

Revelation 14: KJV
9 "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, {10} The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: {11} And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

Hi...I must admit that I have not listened to him since I found this out , I was really upset because I grew a lot by his teachings , now I just wonder who can I trust to listen to , that was a very big thing he said , and I am still so young in my walk that I know we should not take the mark , and I do understand Scripture that is spoken about it , I just find it hard to believe that John Mac would say that...

The word of God comes before man , so now it is me and the bible , Jesus is my teacher , and anything I do not understand , then I know the Holy Spirit will reveal to me in His time...I also like another preacher called Alistair Begg , but I am weary of everyone now in case I am led astray...Thank you for your reply...xox...

I never get into the habit of giving myself over to just believing what ever a particular preacher says.. That does not mean that i never listen to anyone when they talk about God.. I will take the time to carefully listen to what others are saying about God because God can often use others to give us little gems of wisdom about His Word... The good thing to always do is to take what ever they say and compare it with the Word of God.. This is the best Way..

I would never want to get too cynical of human beings to the point where i would stop listening and considering what they have to say.. As long as i use that filter of The Holy Bible and as long as i keep asking for the Holy Spirits guidance in understanding scripture i can get the best from both,, fellow Christians and direct from the Bible with Gods Holy Spirit..

Dear Rosemaryx,

You are wise to have a high view of Scripture, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as your teacher and not follow a preacher. The Apostle Paul had a high view of the Bereans because they did not just accept what was taught to them as gospel truth. Instead, they searched the Scriptures daily to see if it was true or not.

I hope we can agree that worshipping the beast and receiving the mark does in fact send people to hell. But the question that was asked is, after receiving the mark of the beast, can that person still come to Christ?...or to put it another way, can that person still be saved? We know from the rest of Scripture that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

If receiving the mark of the beast is the unforgivable sin and no one can be saved anymore, then what is the purpose of the 144,000 Evangelists who will preach the gospel in the great tribulation to those who already have the mark of the beast? (Rev. 7: 1-8)
Verse 9-10 teaches that "a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages will be saved (Rev. 7: 9-10). These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation who will worship God (Rev. 7: 14-17) after the mark of the beast has been implemented.

If after having received the mark of the beast, why will the gospel still be preached to every nation and tongue and tribe and people, if no one will repent, believe and be saved? (Rev. 14:6-7)

Repentance and forgiveness is made available to all through the preaching of the gospel, even after people have received the mark of the beast. And the Bible teaches that people from every tribe, tongue and nation, whose number cannot even be counted, will be saved during the great tribulation.

Hi...Thank you for your reply...And I see what you are saying...Correct me if I am wrong , are you saying that when the time comes for the mark , there will be people who take it , but some of those who have took it can also come to Christ after ? , if this is correct , then maybe that is what John Mac meant and his meaning was taken out of context ...xox...

You are correct, Rosemaryx. You cannot buy or sell without the mark of the beast, but it doesn't mean that everyone who received the mark will not repent of their sin and embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, a multitude of people will come to Christ in the great tribulation. A multitude means no one can count the number of people. And that is exactly what Dr. John MacArthur was saying and it was further explained in the Grace to You response to the YouTube video that was posted. Unfortunately, people took it out of context to mean that John MacArthur said that if you take the mark of the beast, you will be saved. Listen to his response carefully and read the Grace to You response which I will attach below:
