Whoever Loses His Life For My Sake Will Save It,
At that point Peter tried to scold Jesus presumably that He
should save His own life and not give in to those who are
testing Him and telling Him to show them signs of God.
These were the Pharisees who were not living in the love of
God but adhering strictly to the law. So Jesus then turned
to Peter and admonished him instead. Jesus knew He had
to give His life to be the sacrificial lamb. But telling Peter
he needs to lose his life by losing the life of the flesh. By
being in the flesh, we will never come near to Jesus. We are
to surrender to Him completely according to scripture. That
means we no longer live by our own will but we surrender our
will to live the will of God. Only then can we truly become one
in Him and have His nature revealed in a deeper way.
