Speaking in tongues

It angers me when someone takes a verse out of context and perverts the context. Here is that verse in context!! Oops you left out what was meant.

22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 25 as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”

Here is chapter 13 known as the love chapter.

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. Because the gift of interpreting tongues ceased, we are only left with a common language.

So Love is only after resurrection?!!

Paul is saying gifts cease when perfect love comes, John is saying we must be perfected in love for us to be children of God and you are saying all these only comes after resurrection.

Paul has made it clear that whosoever sings or praises or prays must do it with their understanding, meaning that they must speak of what they know.

So interpretation of tongues is also an assertion or what evidence would anyone have that a tongue has been interpreted?

I know it can't but majority of the so called believers can be deluded by the voice of satan into thinking they have light and life. It is said that satan manifest as if he was the angel of light.

Who are these people:

Matt 7:21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Are they muslims/atheists/hindus/satanists or are they deluded Christians? btw, many means many.

We ought to know how satan works.

Rev 13: 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

Matt 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.

2 Cor 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

When Jesus says “I never knew you” He means we were never intimate in such a way that you would give me offspring which is “go and make disciples of all men ........witness, teach, baptize........

Only those with Holy Spirit have the intimacy with Christ “receive power to be His witness” - able to make offspring. Jesus knows us and we know Him!

We can’t be silenced. We love God and PREACH!!!

Yet these people did miracles and signs and wonders in the name of the Lord or they thought they were doing it in the name of the Lord. They were fully convinced by the sweet voices in their head they did all these signs in the name of the Lord.

The key thing is that they actually did the signs and wonders and they were fully convinced they were doing it from God.

Dear Noose, you either love God or you don’t. Just figure the answer to that out and live your life accordingly.

You should notice that these people talk about their works. Works doesn't save. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Since grace is a free gift no one can earn earn salvation.

These people are actually pointing to the so called gifts just like some are trying to do here.

They are still talking about works. Nothing we do can save us. Using gifts doesn't save. Grace through faith in Jesus is what they should have been talking about. Those saying it here should read and understand the difference then repent and ask Jesus for salvation.

But some will argue that these gifts are a sign that they are indwelled by God meaning that they are children of God. How can God disown His children?
My opinion is that the gifts ceased in the 1st century. They were to help believers as a whole during the transition from old to new covenant. I don't mean there's absolutely s, i mean if there's healing it is within a person and there's no specific person with the gift of healing others.

They are deluded people thinking they earned salvation through their works instead of grace through faith in Jesus. Not accepting that grace condemns them.

Is that what you are saying? At 73 years old I have been around groups that with the laying on of hands while praying healed the person. God given gifts like this can open an unbelievers heart to accept Jesus.
