Everyone speak of faith ,faith but do we really know what the word faith in the Lord really means? Faith is when we put all our trust in God without wavering. Being able to submit all our worries, troubles, pains, emptiness, crises in God 's hands
Psalm 125 :1 They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. When you put all ur trust in God you won't be shaken cause you are sure that it is all well taken care of and He know what is best. We are christians but our thoughts keeep on raining; how will I pay for my institution fee, How will I take care of thus children, this bills, and many more random worries. Hello? I thought you said you where a christian, I thought you trusted me with your worries I thought you knew I have your interest at heart, I thought you knew there is nothing I am unable to do. Just a reminder when ever we break, feel like giving up, feel like its too heavy I can'nt do this anymore. Jesus weeps He does because it breaks His heart when ever we doubti Him, when we feel we are alone while His always there. FAITH is standing firm in the Lord during crises without wavering .

Hi Ruthiangenisi,
Many people here have different perspectives as to what faith in Christ means.
OSAS (once saved, always saved) people believe that once they accept Jesus as the Lord they are then saved once and for all, even though there are many scriptures to the contrary.
One set of scriptures even says that there will be some people who will have preached Christ, cast out demons, and have done many works in the Lords name; only for the Lord to tell these people that He never knew them and to get away from Him (Matthew 7:22-23).
As such, true faith in Christ to me means to believe in what Christ believed, which is to love God and your neighbor with everything you have.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

MANY people, including yourself, really at the end of the day lack faith............and obviously you do not understand context either.....why do I say this...because you use a verse to teach a losable salvation that states clearly they were never saved to begin with.....You remind me of my grandfather who was a particular religious denomination that peddled works and a losable salvation..His name was Louis as well, and he went out from cancer screaming that he was catching on fire and to help him, yeah...was begging for help and saying NO NO please.......

My other grandfather was a drunk, drove a truck for United his whole life, wealthy and loved to drink Olympia Beer........never graced a church door, despised the bible......and he got cancer as well....the difference...HE was led to the Lord by my brother and trusted JESUS by faith through grace and he went out peaceful, smiling and good to go..........

Ruthian ......do not buy the drivel put out by those who peddle a salvation that can be lost or forfeit......the bible, in context does not teach that farce.........!

Faith believes the following truths....and does not chunk Jesus and the following truths under the bus by peddling a salvation that can be lost like a dollar coin at the market

I will NEVER leave thee or forsake thee
I am KEPT by the power of God through faith
I am in the Father's hand and no man can yank me
I am in the Son's hand and no man can yank me
I am sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption
I will LOSE nothing but raise it up the last day
The good shepherd will leave the 99 to find the one that wanders away
He that believes on the son is HAVING EVERLASTING/ETERNAL life
We are SAVED to the UTTERMOST
WE are born of INCORRUPTIBLE SEED ETERNALLY fro ABOVE
We are JUSTIFIED eternally by the FAITH of CHRIST
WE are sanctified positionally and eternally by the BLOOD of Christ
When I see the BLOOD I will pass over you
He that believes is NOT CONDEMNED
Many are saved yet so as by fire YET STILL SAVED
A son by birth is always a son by BIRTH and NOTHING changes that
ETC.......

So many promises must be rejected to teach a salvation that can be forfeit or lost.....tragically I might add....

Thanks for the knowledge because the bible says we should accept knowledge.
Matthew 14:29-31
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Faith means putting your trust in God without wavering means without doubting. What is lost in what I wrote was I dint say you should not do anything about it once you in a bad situation all i am saying is to stop worrying because you have placed your trust in God. Peter saw Jesus walk on top of the water is because he believed without doubting that it shall be but the moment he saw the wind and all that he got scared when you get scared it means you doubting. What I might said might have been interpreted wrongly but I tell you if you have doubt in what can do then you have no faith or have little faith. Thanks for sharing. Ruthian

you don't have to reject those promises. He didn't only made them his faithful he always keep his promises. I just explain what faith is. which is not doubting.

Faith is a work of God that he works in us, with us ………….. to both will and do His good pleasure. Without works there would be no spirit life unseen life to offer.

Christian begin with no faith, none not little. His faith that works in us produces His works as that which we work out being yoked with Him .like that of Abraham and Isaac in that parable when God worked to provide the sacrifice rather than Abraham killing his son .

As the verse says below we work it out, not work for it as if it was from us to begin with.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;Philipians2:12-15

I find it interesting that he adds "do so without complaining". Remembering where we came from (no faith) and that God will not forget the goods works we do offer towards his name.

Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Unbelief, no faith is. As mankind we all begin with no faith.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is not merely believing. Faith requires substance. Faith requires evidence. Man is required to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once man believes the gospel, the man is justified by the faith of Jesus Christ. The evidence of Christ's faith is His obedience unto death, even the death of the cross.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Once man believes and is justified, born again, man is live out the faith. Some will continue to live out their faith by evidence of their good works and obedience unto God's word, some will not. But all believers will be judged at the JSOC based upon how they lived out their faith since becoming a believer. Those who lived out their faith will be rewarded. Those who did not will suffer the loss of rewards.

I have this scripture at the front of my journal so I see it everyday.

T

Yes the question is whose faith do we have as the assurance of the things hoped for, to confirm the things not seen? Of our own selves?

Webster defines the word faith as "Belief-, assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, resting on his authority and veracity, without other evidence." "assent of the mind to the truth of divine revelation”. And. this definition is established by the colleges and universities of our country generally, and endorsed by all Arminians and legalists everywhere.

But the definition of the term as used in the Scriptures, as defined by the inspired apostles, differs very widely from the popularly received definitions of men. The apostle John speaks of it as a child from heaven., born of God, and inspired with heavenly life, and triumphing over the world. "For whatsoever is born of God, overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world: even our faith." 1 John 5:4 That faith which is of God and in God, is the faith the Lord Jesus Christ is himself the author and the finisher of it. Heb 12:2

The faith that is born of God will lay hold of and endorse no other doctrine than that of God our Savior; it will point out no other path for the saints to walk in but that which Christ has marked out by his precepts and examples, and it will admit as genuine, no other experience than that which is led by the Spirit of God. This is the faith of God's elect. By it, the saints are distinguished from the world, none can possess it unless they be born of God, and without it no man can please God. This true and living faith is, an element of the heaven-born child of God, and only by it can we overcome the world, the flesh and the devil; only by it can we approach the throne of grace, draw near to God, or cry Abba, Father.

He that comes to God must believe that he is, and the belief in God's being and perfections is the act of vital faith.
This heaven-begotten and heaven-born faith, is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:l
Faith is the substance of the things hoped for, by the Christian. The things hoped for by the new man are spiritual, heavenly and eternal, for it enters within the veil, and is fixed on things which are not seen by the natural perceptions of men.

The apostle has said, "Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith." 2 Cor 13:5 How do we know we are in this faith?

First- The faith of the Son of God in our hearts is always associated with hope and charity. Now abideth faith, hope and charity these three. The love of God in our hearts will center in God as its author and source in his people, his truth, his government, his laws, his ordinances, and all the privileges of his church.

Second- Having this faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, or, in other words, are reconciled to God, rejoice that he is God, that he has all power in heaven and in earth; that he .reigns supreme over all beings, all worlds, and all events, that he has numbered the hairs of our head, and will not suffer one of them to fall unbidden of him to the ground. He IS sovereign.

Third- If we have this faith, we shall learn by experience that we cannot control it, exercise or enlarge it- but on the contrary, it will assuredly control, exercise and govern us.

Fourth- Having this faith, we shall assuredly also have fears, trials, temptations and great conflicts with the world, the flesh and Satan, for our faith must be tried, that its power may be understood and appreciated.

Fifth- If our faith be of the operation of God, it will give us views of the perfections, power and majesty of God, and we shall see in ourselves our total depravity. And we look with wonder at the amazing power and grace displayed in our salvation.

Sixth- This faith will lead us to trust alone in God for our eternal salvation, and for the salvation of all his redeemed family, while it will effectually destroy in us all confidence in the flesh.

Another peculiarity of this faith is that it will endure trials of the greatest severity, and God has ordained that it shall be tried as He scourgeth every son.

The power of faith shall be known by the saints, in its victories over the world, the flesh and the devil. It shall triumph over death, and vanquish the gloom and terror of the grave

Faith is the bond between God and man that allows us to see Him as He is, to see us as we are, and to rest completely in His sovereign grace.

In contrast to the many faithless in love who will have thought they had faith in the Lord, to whom the Lord will respond that He never knew them and to get away from Him (Matthew 25:41-46); we then have others who will have thought they had little or no faith in the Lord, but whose actions will show that they always had faith in love (Matthew 25:35-40).

Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Faith.....we all have been given a measure of it. It is the building block of our relationship.

The best example is as a child learning to walk for the first time. As he sets up and starts to use things around them to stedy his legs he trust in the things that are fixed and sure. Testing the strength in there own legs they step out and fall but because of that little measure they attempt it again and again till finally first steps are taken. Now it's time to impove on balance, focus, and direction. Always making sure that those fixed things are still in reach.

Those fixed things in a Christian's life are sound doctrine, and truth.............foundation
Sound doctrine and truth gives us strength in our legs and the ability to stand........... God enables the called
Taking first steps......be ye doers of the word and not hearers only ,
Balance........here a little there a little
Focus.........my eyes are upon him
Direction......trust in the Lord with all of your heart he shall direct your path.
