Discipline

Many here who belive in old fashioned discipline?

Obedience to the law still applies; "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me" (John 14:21). What is no longer applicable is the curse of the law, e.g; We don't stone someone for committing adultery. But discipline to his word is how we demonstrate our faith.

Discipline yes, beating not so much

Yes i do.. But it must be done sparingly and as lightly as possible...

Sadly some people flog their Children without mercy and it is nothing but excessive abuse.. They do more harm then good..

There is a right way at the right time for the right reason.. We need help from God to guide us to know when it is appropriate and to what extent it is appropriate..

Discipline is important in a child's life. However, physically hitting someone is always counterproductive.

Discipline is important. Not sure about the old fashioned.

For example spare the rod, spoil the child"was used for beating kids with switches (aka sticks). It's referring to a Shepherd leading their sheep!

You don't want to be an authoritative parent and you don't want to be a permissive parent either. Both of these parenting techniques could be considered abusive and definitely don't work. Strict parents create rebellious kids and" friend" parents create ungrateful and impulsive kids. Firm, but fair is the best approach and actually raises the happiest kids.

The "type" of discipline actually does not matter as much as how it's being implemented (within reason of course). Although fair consequences tend to be more logical. You break it, you fix it attitude.
