God's Word states that spiritual concepts can be seen in the world that He created. (Romans 1:20) The following is one such instance. Keep in mind that God created the human development/birth process. We know from His Word that God does nothing haphazardly. Every creation has a purpose. Ask yourself why He chose to have a baby who is immersed in water break forth into existence? Again, He could have used any method He chose. He is God.

Natural Birth Component #1 = Conception
We are alone...in darkness; without form and void. A joining of the egg and sperm takes place and light begins to permeate the darkness. One cell after another emerges culminating into an exceptional creation of God.

Natural Birth Component #2 = Birth
We exit the waters of our mother's womb. Shafts of light assault our eyes as we struggle to bring our eyes into focus.

Natural Birth Component #3 = Breath of Life
After leaving our mother’s womb we gasp and draw in the surrounding air. This air immediately infiltrates our body; bringing life and nourishment to every fiber of our being. Equipped, a new journey awaits. We are now part of an earthy family.

Spiritual Birth Component #1 = Repentance
Jesus invites us to leave our old life behind and join with Him. We step out of gross darkness and begin to see glimmers of light. Our journey has begun, destination… the dazzling likeness of Christ.

Spiritual Birth Component #2 = Water Baptism
We break the water's surface entering the world once again, this time as a new creation in Christ Jesus. The radiant light grips our eyes. As our spiritual eyes adjust to our new environment, the lens of our mind begins to focus in on nuggets of truth nestled in God’s Word.
Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot SEE the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

Spiritual Birth Component #3 = Infilling/baptism of the Holy Ghost (God's gift)
Being born of water a second time is only one essential part of our spiritual birth. Our body awaits the infiltration of God’s Spirit which will bring nourishment and eternal life.
John 3:5 “Unless a man is born of water and of spirit he can not ENTER into the kingdom.“

God’s spiritual birthing process also requires we ask for and receive the breath of life which is the gift of the Holy Spirit. We enter into the family of God. Brothers and sisters rejoice at our arrival.

After receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit we become endued with power from on high. We can venture forth with confidence. What is our God given commission? We are to pursue others who are dead in darkness, and lead them to the light.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus said (during His earthly ministry):

John 5:40 [blb] -

"and you are not willing to come to Me, [in order] that you may have life."

As I illustrated, mankind is born of the flesh and upon accepting and obeying the gospel a spiritual rebirth takes place.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?" John 3:5-10

Being new to this forum I didn't realize my posts should all start out with what I felt was obvious. Without the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we would all still be in darkness and lost in our sin. However, the Word tells us we must proceed from there.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" Romans 1:16-20

We are told to obey the gospel. (Romans 10:16-17) The gospel is explained as the death, burial, and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) How does one obey the gospel?

This quote gave it away. You are most likely from the church of Christ which teaches baptismal regeneration. [or oneness pentecostal]

I have learned to read between the lines and I dont even need to ask anymore what church someone represents, I can deduce that.

Here are rules of thumb to go by:

If someone talks about Holy Spirit told me this and that, Spirit moved me to this and that, I saw Jesus at the edge of my bed, Jesus healed me, signs and wonders, speaking in tongues evidence of born again, Spirit Spirit, thats how you know you are dealing with a charismatic(nondenom) or pentecostal individual.

If someone talks about not of works, you cant ever lose your salvation not of works not of works not of works, finished work of Christ, being "backslid" despite only saying a prayer once and has never been nothing but "backslid" but was still genuinely saved, you are dealing with a baptist individual.

If someone talks about "Pelagians", God dying for "His people", "effectual call" or "it was nothing in me" etc. you are most likely dealing with a reformed/calvinist individual.

If someone talks about "How does one obey the gospel" like the OP here, you are dealing with the churches of Christ, USUALLY, or alternatively ONENESS pentecostals. (who deny the trinity and baptism in Jesus name only, english is OK no hebrew Yeshua name needed)

If someone talks about "following Torah" you are for sure dealing with a hebrew roots individual.

If someone talks about "sunday worship" or "sabbath being the mark of God" or "sign of God" you are dealing with an adventist individual. They believe mark of the beast will be sunday worship, instead of the sabbath. They also dont believe in an eternal hellfire. Same as the churches of God, in that regard, and JWs.

If someone talks about "the Church teaches" or "the Church believes" instead of "the Bible teaches", or "the Apostles taught", you are most likely dealing with an orthodox/catholic individual. [May also apply to confessional lutherans]

That covers almost everyone, excluding the methodists and lutherans, I havent picked up on any particular "slang" they use, Lutherans often mention their catechism, which is a sure way of knowing. Dont know a thing about methodists, never met many, are they still "Traditional"? I know the united methodist in america is a joke, but are there real ones left?

Oh btw and im disrespecting any of the denominations listed above, just saying, i have noticed patterns and learned to read between the lines of what people are. Some folks refuse to identify with any and claim the non-denom deal, which ironically is almost a denomination at this point.

As a rule, denominational beliefs pretty much differ. So the source for attaining answers should come first from the Word. However, as the bible itself says, we can also see spiritual truth in the design of God's created world.

Paul indicated that the gospel was to be obeyed, by saying that not all people were obeying it, not I.

"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Rom 10:15-17

Paul also goes on to say:
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Tim 3:16-17

There is no doubt that we will not all agree, all of the time. But, I would imagine each of us would agree that we share what we see out of sincere love for one another.

I would be interested in seeing scripture that you attribute to how one obeys the gospel other than the ones I quoted. Having these discussions is great. We can all learn from one another. 'Cause that's what our walk is all about. :) Thanks!
