Because It Is The Power Of God,
Paul describes our new way of life as we transform from
being ungodly to living a life in Christ. As we transition
from one to the other, it is necessary to really grasp and
internalize the Gospel. It becomes our new way of life
while we shed the old. At the same time, he is talking
specifically about the old laws and the old ways. While
we don't throw out the Old Testament since it too has a
portion of power in it, we live by the grace and love and
salvation in the New Testament. By saying the Gospel
is the power of God means that is where we truly begin
our life's surrender to the power of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The only way we can feel the power of the Gospel is to
live the Gospel. If we don't live the Gospel, we will not
benefit from the power it brings us. In the end, it is written,
there is faith hope and love and the greatest of these is
love. If we don't have love than we really don't have much
at all. It means we have missed the value of Christ on the
cross altogether. We don't have to understand everything
the Gospel says, we just have to have faith in what the
Gospel does say.
Not Only Will We Survive; We Will Thrive.
