Is growing in grace a requirement???
It is God's will that we grow in grace. So anyone who is truly saved will want to do so.
Is growing in grace a requirement???
Growing in grace is God's will for us. A true believer will desire to do God's will. Do you have to coerce a baby to desire milk?

Desire the sincere milk that you may GROW thereby.

I think it is a natural consequence of increasing the Holy Spirit within us. Not sure what you mean by requirement? Maybe you mean growing in grace is a requirement for entering the pearly gates of Heaven?
I think that it is a consequence of desiring God too. Desiring God leads to worship, prayer, bible study, and service, which all lead to growth. We do not do these things to be saved. They should be a joy to us, like a baby desiring milk

The New Nature desires the things of God unless we stuff ourselves with the junk of the flesh. like when I eat a bunch of junk food I wont have an appetite for real food. This can happen in the spiritual realm also, if we do not deny fleshly lusts

So much here about grace so I thought I'd ask......why did God give us grace?
GOD gave us grace because man could not be righteous according to to the law that GOD gave Moses to give to the children of Israel with his own strength.

Someone might ask, well since GOD Is sovereign why didn’t HE Just cancel out the transgression of adam and start over?

Answer=GOD loves righteousness and wanted a relationship with man but man would of had to be righteous with his own strength and would come short of the glory of GOD ,not being able to be perfect according to the law because of the weakness of his flesh.GOD had mercy and set out to make a way that man could be In right standing with HIM the righteous way and sent HIS WORD to earth In the flesh to fulfill the law that was added because of transgression and pay for the sins of the world satisfying the demand of the law which meant death.

Righteously JESUS took back the power adam handed over to satin.

Now the Issue Is faith.

Whosoever will believe In the WORD of GOD should not perish but have EverLasting Life.

sin shall not have dominion.

Hebrews 1:7-10
King James Version

7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son [he saith], Thy throne, O God, [is] for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

John 3:14-17
King James Version

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved

Romans 5:8-11
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

That's a picture of Grace. Just a small one.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

And that is the reason it is needed. Without Christ we can do nothing.

John 1:16 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

By Grace are we saved through faith.
Grace Is also given when the person Is the process of renewing their mind.
The just shall live by faith.
When we hope for something In JESUS name we believe that we receive.
All of GOD’s promises are yes and amen.

Thanks. I'm thinking that the grace that God has given us is a consequence of his love for us. The grace that we have for others grows as the Holy Spirit in us grows. What is grace? Still thinking about that... at least I'm thinking :)
Yes,as we grow In the HOLY SPIRIT.

We have been given grace through the blood of Jesus, because without it, we could never have been reconciled back to God. God loves us, and desires to save us, but not at the expense of His righteousness and justice. Grace is God showing His mercy while remaining Holy.

Grace is our pardon, paid for by Christ
:)Best description I’ve heard.

On our part....God had no choice...we were a doomed race...an utter and total failure.

On God's part....He gets the glory and praise and worship and worshippers.

Works for me.
Works?
For you?
Just kidding bro.:giggle:

We are saved unto good works, but what is the catalyst for one using their body as a living sacrifice? Gratitude. From whence does this appreciation rise? The grace of God, whereby men in chains are shackled to death, but does God set them free giving them eternal life (undeserving). It is in this state of inadequacy, broken, and helpless, found wanting, that God lifts them up off the floor of humility, agreeing with God that they have fallen short, and seats them with Christ in heavenly places. No longer lost, but found, made a child of the Most High. One of the redeemed.

Grace then is the catalyst to change. Why use grace? For those that are forgiven much, love much (Luke 7:36-50). This being true, and we being saved unto good works, it inspires the lover of God to walk in His will as that living sacrifice. It is the least that we could do, yet so, it is our desire from a place of gratitude found in the foundation that is Christ and Him crucified paying our penalty and us being saved not by merit but grace and mercy.

Luke 7:36-50 King James Version (KJV)
36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

His love is not only the means by which our love reciprocates towards Him, but outflows into our lives as we walk in the good works He has prepared beforehand.

Poor choice of words lol.
A bolt of lightning strikes a tree, catching it on fire. The fire produces smoke. God’s Grace is the lightning, faith is the fire, and smoke is the works.

Do you find yourself growing in grace???
its the only way we could grow

Yes the only way.

I would offer. The milk of the word builds strong bones of faith teaching us we serve a gracious God .

1 Peter 2:2-4 King James Version (KJV)2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Titus 2:12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

We should never lose that desire for his grace but as we grow we would follow the example of the Son of man Jesus who had food(meat) that the disciples still growing needed.

John 4:33-35 King James Version (KJV) Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

In that way the field are still white and we need to do the work of bringing the gospel of grace that does bring salvation .

What did you mean when you say Is growing In grace a requirement?I would say salvation Is by grace through faith and when It comes to renewing the mind to the new creation that we have become talking about progressive sanctification, believing that what Is hoped for In JESUS name WILL come to pass because GOD Is almighty and we know that all of GOD’s promises are yes and amen.

Everything we receive from the Lord, including Sanctification, is a work of Grace. Grace is simply the Goodness of God extended to undeserving people. The whole process is by Faith, as the whole process can only be by Faith. Who loved us and gave Himself for us (on the Cross) - Gal. 2:20-21

Grace...it comes with a price....the price of self sacrifice. To bridge the gap between man and God it was the Lord who chose to fill it.
In fact he was the only one who could. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". There is none righteous no not one.
Grace had to rise above the blame game...."It was the woman you gave me" ....."It was the serpent that tricked me" ....by humbeling itself as a servant to the lost and dead.
Grace does not come in clashing it's sword for it is defenseless and innocent...."you shall find the babe in the manger". But becomes our defence against our enemy......"there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.
When it grows it does not become self aware...."he made himself of no reputation.......nor is it unkind....."no guile was found in him".
Grace shares the burden of others....."come all that labor and I will give you rest". Grace is not proud...."God resist the proud but gives grace to the humble".

Love and grace go hand in hand so what is the difference between them? Is there a difference?

Grace comes by the Mercy of God. So before we were ever granted Grace, we had Yeshua fulfilling our salvation by the Mercy of God. I am very careful how I view Grace, because it is first temporary, and secondly, it comes by way of Mercy.

It reminds me of how High School basketball has a varsity team and jv team. They both are actually members of one team, but one group has better skills, while the other group is used to sharpen the Varsity with scrimmage and practice as the opponent. The Mercy of God led Yeshua to the Cross. The Salvation established by such Mercy, awarded us with Grace. Two distinct qualities of ONE GOD, while both have different purposes to accomplish the goal of God.

Yes in deed grace is temporary, "seek the sun while he still may be found".

I'm of the opinion that God's grace towards us is His having mercy on us, when we believe on Christ and the Way.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
