I think everyone probably grew up in life thinking the purpose in life was to be successful, get married, have kids and retire at a good age and have fun. But is this really what we were created for? To live 80 somewhat years and then that's it? One day we are here and poof we are gone the next, sort of like vapor? I don't think that was the purpose of life since nothing we obtain on earth can be carried over to the afterlife. I believe we were each created for a purpose. What is that purpose? To have a relationship with the Creator. I truly believe we have a capacity in our DNA to desire to know the Creator and to have a relationship with Him. Unfortunately when Adam sinned, he ruined that relationship and the doors were shut. But the Creator opened the doors for us once again to have a relationship with Him and that door is Jesus Christ. Have you opened that door?

Yes thank you everyone. It never hurts to mix a good sense of humor into the purpose.

I want to add something to the original post. We still have a life to live here on earth. Most people have jobs and families to feed, etc.. But who or what is more important to us? Is our house more important? Is our job more important? Is our family more important? Or is Jesus more important? Because everything on earth is nothing but vapor, just comes and goes. So choosing Jesus would be not only be the wise move, but a decision that gives us hope. And we can still accomplish our earthly goals while having a relationship with Jesus. But let's make sure we actually have a relationship with Jesus. By living in obedience.

Here is a good job description to occupy us while we go through our natural lives in an un-Godly world

20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.

To love and be loved.

It really is that simple.
It is the theme of so many movies, books, etc. It is the rule for every misbehavior. It is the law written on our soul.

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."

I like that theme. To love and be loved. Also just happens to be the 2 greatest commandments by Jesus. To love the Lord your God and to love your neighbor as yourself. And if we truly love Jesus, then we will obey all His other commands.

Life is intended to give everything else meaning. I mean, the purpose of God creating everything is that eternal things may have a meaning when compared to the temporary.

so that:
In life, good which is eternal may have meaning when compared to evil in life
Life eternal may have meaning when compared to things that pass away
Truth may have meaning as compared to lies which can not stand the test of time

Life or reality is nothing more than a comparison between two. There is no such thing as beauty if there is no ugliness, and no such thing as light when there's no darkness.

I have always said, creation or reality is a loop with the beginning and end at the same point and then eternity proceeding also from that point onward- so every temporary thing that has a beginning shall definitely have an end and the eternal things will have meaning from there onward.

Thank you for sharing Noose. I believe the most beautiful things in life are those things that are unseen such as love, honesty, integrity and faith. These characteristics are invisible to the naked eye, but they are not invisible to our Lord Jesus.

I believe we were each created for a purpose. What is that purpose?
The purpose of life is to fulfill what I call "The Four Directives" that were given at the very beginning of human existence plus one more: 1) subdue the earth, 2) take dominion of God's creation, 3) multiply, 4) be productive, 5) disciple the nations.

To know God is to know the directives, because they come from Him. These directives were never meant for the wicked.

Hello xjohnson. I like those directives. Since planet earth is our home, it would make sense to take care of our planet and the environment that we live in while multiplying and being productive at the same time. I'd call that multi-tasking. To have a relationship with Jesus and being productive at the same token.
