He Has Made The Old One Obsolete,

With the coming of Jesus, God created His new
covenant which is our Lord Jesus Christ. The
new law becomes Jesus and becomes the only
law. As scripture says, love fulfils all the law.
This is very hard for the majority of Christians
to wrap their minds around. Most want rules and
regulations and laws to follow. But God sends
His Son Jesus not to abolish the laws but so He
can fulfil them. Most take that as meaning the old
law has been totally obliterated. But what really
happens is the old laws brought us to this point
and they were great for that time. Now through
Jesus with the new law being love, when we learn
to love, it means we are following all the old laws.
To understand this concept, we need to understand
that the old law was not wrong, just that the new
covenant was a great improvement. Does this mean
that we throw away all the Old Testament, absolutely
not. It is our guide as to how we got here.

John 14: 15 "If you love me keep my commandments." The commandments the verse refers to are the 10 commandments as given by God. The ten commandments are enablings of grace. The transformed (converted) mind loves the law of God because the transformed mind is basically the mind of Christ, and the mind of Christ is " O how I love thy law... it is my meditation all the day" Psalms 119:97. The 10 commandments are the transcript of Gods character, they are the definition of love. Always have been. They are also the constitution so to speak of the government of God.
