At church there has been alot of preaching that jesus is coming back soon. I know that this has been preached for many many years now but alot of people are convinced that the time is very short. What do you think?
My question is not is Jesus coming back but is mankind going to reach the exit door.

Melting ice in the Himilayas is going to cause flooding to 100 of millions of people, followed by
drought and disaster.

Rising sea levels are going to flood many cities, so 100 of millions of people will have to relocate.

World food resources will fail under climate change weather patterns leading to mass starvation.

Global pandemics will hit, because we are now one global city.

But there is hope, that with focus, we can bring about solutions through technology and love.
And greatest of all we can share Jesus and the Kingdom and bring people in to eternal life, Amen.

So there is great opportunity and great challenge, Amen.

Psalm 110 (NIV)
The Lord says to my lord:
“Sit at my right hand
UNTIL I MAKE your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”

People in Christ's Army, understand this. As Paul states:
Ephesians 6
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

People in God's Army? Understand this:
Ecclesiastes 3
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A TIME OF WAR, and a time of peace.

To me? It rather sounds like the Father is telling His Son?
"You stay here." "I'm giving you the Earth, as a "present!"
"It's not time yet."

In ones' thinking, or believing this shall not come to physical manifestation/s?
Is in my view? Rather naive.

Or? We can let the faggots take over "churches of stone." Right?
I mean, love IS love! Right?

Paul said soon. I guess soon is a relative word. 🧐

Yes. At one point from 1-2 Thessalonians the severity of persecution led Paul to Believe that Christ return was within months or short years. These men were not deity. But they were passionate. And passion breeds expectations
They only saw thru a glass darkly. But now, in 2019, nearly two thousand years since our lord spoke of the end times, and yet we’re still looking up for our redemption. Sir or madam, I don’t know when. If Jesus said that He didn’t know but left His return up to the Father (such anticipatory obedience); then neither you nor I know. So we STAY ready

What’s the context u ref?
"The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants
what must soon take place"

"The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet"

"He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!"

"I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown."

YES -
The tensions and alignments in geo-politics is pretty well on target to explode.
U.S. America is constantly pouring fuel on the fire, and Trump's administration is blindly supporting Israel and will make war
against Iran and Shia Islam.
Israel is belligerent and wants to create a Jewish state for Jews only; more conflict. And Israel needs the U.S. to take out Iran.
Russia incredibly is experiencing a powerful Christian revival and morally stands opposed to the liberal decadence of the West.
Russia is militarily powerful and will be used by God to nuke the West, including the U.S.A.
China is no banana republic and also has the military power to both defend herself and also to blow away U.S. forces.
Nukes, nukes and more nukes. That is the problem for today.
So much conflict and tensions in the world today.
And then there is Syria. Prophecy says that Damascus will be completely destroyed. How far off in time is that?

As Johnny Cash sings; 'Matthew 24 knocking at the door'

Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

However, also be aware the God does not measure soon-ness the way man does.

2 Peter 3:8 'But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

But there is hope, that with focus, we can bring about solutions through technology and love.
And greatest of all we can share Jesus and the Kingdom and bring people in to eternal life, Amen.
But the problem is sin ... that is our undoing.

Watch a DVD of the greatest sci-fi movie made "Forbidden Planet" in which Dr. Edward Morbius tells the Earth landing party (and us)
the wonders of the Krell civilization:
"Ostrow sneaks away to use the Krell mind machine. He is fatally injured, but with his dying words, Ostrow tells Adams that the great machine was built to create anything the Krell could imagine. He says that the Krell forgot one thing, however: "Monsters from the Id".
Their own base subconscious desires, given free rein and unlimited power by the machine, brought about their quick extinction."
[film review notes]

At the end of the film Leslie Neilsen is fighting with Walter Pigeon who is using the Krell mind machine to create a 'monster' that
will come and destroy them all.
During the fight Leslie Neilsen shouts out to Morbius that the Krell forgot about their moral shortcomings (their sinful nature in our
parlance) and created these monsters to destroy each other - "that's why we have religion and laws to protect us from ourselves."

We too will repeat the story of the Krell - except that God will return to save his true church from total destruction.

Jesus is soon to return.

God will give the world 7 years to have their way, and cause all people who do not love Him to follow a kingdom in the future in Revelation 13, and when they do the saints, and the world will be separated, and there will be no in between, for all who do not love God will follow that kingdom, and all the rest will be with God, and the saints will be gathered unto Christ, and God will end this sin business on earth.

So advanced technology, and advanced travel, has to be a part of the world's ways for this to happen, for that is what will bring the world together to rebel against God, and it is here now.

Daniel was told of the end time, but did not understand, but was told the book was sealed until the end time, for they will understand at that time, for many shall run to and fro, advanced travel, and knowledge shall be increased, advanced technology, which because of that the saints can see, hear, and know what is going on in the earth, and how it is possible for them to come together.

Paul said it is close to Jesus coming back when the nations come together as one and say Peace and safety, and try to establish peace on earth, which it is possible for them to come together for they know of each other, and can communicate, and travel to each other, and many people wanting the nations to come together, and organizations for the harmony of religions, and harmony of nations, and United Nations to try to get the nations to harmonize, and America wanting the nations to harmonize.

The Bible warns us of the new age movement that will pave the way to the beast kingdom where they rebel against God, which will happen at the latter times, the last days of the last days, and the new age movement has a false interpretation of the Bible that will deceive the world.

The Bible tells us of the last generation before Jesus takes over the earth, that the children will not obey their parents, they will be highly selfish, and highly arrogant, and be aggressive towards each other, and they will devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men, which they will heap money to themselves all in an attempt to exalt themselves.

Which we see this today, and there is no way that people can devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men, unless they have access to be able to heap and heap money to themselves in large quantities.

Which can only happen today with technology that caused money to flow like a raging river, and people can reach out in the world to try to make money, and get money to heap to themselves, for they have access to a larger area, and more people, which many people are millionaires, billionaires, and they are still heaping and heaping money to themselves, for it is never enough, which this could of never happened before technology, maybe for kings, and royalty, but not for people in general as it is today.

Which the love of money is the root of all evil, for it neglects the poor and needy, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

God said in the day of His preparation, which is close to Jesus coming back, the chariots shall be with flaming torches, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

This is obviously speaking of automobiles, the form of transportation that will occur at that time, which Nahum did not know to call them automobiles, but was familiar with the term chariot as a form of transportation.

It is close to Jesus coming back because the world knows about each other, can communicate with each other, can travel to each other, there is organizations for the harmonizing of religions, United Nations for the harmonizing of nation, and much people promoting such, and with the problems on earth they will decide one day to come together as one to try to establish peace on earth, and will end up rebelling against God.

And nations are cooperating with each other more than people realize, and controlled conflict brings about controlled change, for they want the problems, so the world will have to come together to stop the problems for there to be peace on earth.

When there is a peace agreement in the Middle East, the Gentile nations will come together as one, and the 7 years period will begin, which they have been trying to get them to have peace for years, and Trump is pushing it more than any other president.

It appears as if the Middle East peace treaty is an obstacle for all nations to come together, for they want all nations to come together for they do not believe the New Age Christ will appear to cause them to evolve to be greater, and spiritual, until the nations first agree to come together as one to try to establish peace on earth.

So they are working on trying to get the nations to come together, which they will rebel against God believing that truth, and reality, is evolution, and they can still evolve, and Jesus is not Lord and Savior, and honor the God of forces, or the power of nature as their higher power.

Which they will try to convince the world that the Bible is not what has been taught for years of a personal God that created everything, but it is based on the occult, and evolution, and Jesus is not Lord and Savior, but a good teacher, which the Christ conscience came upon, and he evolved to be an ascended master, and avatar, and in the future all who follow the New Age Christ will be the same.

Which when the 7 years period starts it will be the time the world will not endure the way the Bible has been taught for years, not endure the truth, but will believe it according to their own lusts, the new age movement, evolution to be greater, and spiritual, by the power of nature.

For they believe in evolution, and believe people can still evolve, which is why they rebel against God believing in no personal God, but evolution.

Which this will cause all religions to embrace the Bible, and Christianity, Islam, and Judaism interpreted by the new age movement, and all other beliefs of religion other than the new age movement will not be tolerated, and is not truth, and reality, and they are disrupting the peace process they have going on.

Jesus is soon to come back for it is possible for the nations to come together as one, and the plan of the powers to be are trying to make it happen, for they want the nations to come together to produce the New Age Christ.
Here's what I don't get.
Pretty much everything of what you said is nothing new, hasn't all this been happening from the beginning?

Sometimes the opinions of others can crowd our thoughts, what's important though is the voice of the Lord. When you spend more time with Him, He will reveal things to you. I believe we are the last days, we should be drawing near to the lover of our souls, renewing our minds and conforming to His precepts so we can be found blameless, without spot or blemish. I don't know His exact time of His coming but i do believe many biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. Now is the time to occupy until He comes, so we can be found in His will at His coming whenever it is.
So easy to become weary but i find daily fellowship with God refreshes me, just to sit at His feet and hear His voice, no place i'd rather be.
You know, i went through some things for about a couple of months where my mind wandered and i became double minded, i knew it is far better to be with the Lord but i wanted certain things to come to pass in this life. I received healing and deliverance recently and now i am more on the nevertheless come Lord Jesus side of thinking. There's a peace in knowing that God knows our beginning from the end and just being content with such things as we have, if these things come to pass in my life then so let it be but if not then so let it be. This world is full of evil, why do we want to remain here, were not to love the world or the things in the world but looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith and watching unto prayer; 1 Pet 4:7 "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer."
God bless you all.

(Disclaimer: this is all very end-Acts dispensational, but maybe it will help..)

1. 'Soon' did mean soon, but it doesn't anymore.

All the NT writers, and Jesus himself in the gospels, state that his return is not very far off. This was a very real and very possible expectation, but it was dependent on the Jews and the Jewish leadership accepting Jesus as THEIR messiah.

Matthew
3.2 (John the Baptist) 'repent for the kingdom of heaven is near'
4.17 '..Jesus began to teach 'repent for the kingdom of heaven is near''
16.28 - '..some standing here which shall not taste death till they (*may) see the son of man coming in his kingdom'.
24.34 - '..this generation shall not pass, till all these things (*may) be fulfilled'.

*Note: those last two statements contain the conditional 'an' in the Greek, which is mostly not translated into the English. It basically means, 'definitely maybe'. Some translations do include it, eg. YLT.

Acts:
2.17 'in THE LAST DAYS I will pour out my spirit..' (Peter quotes Joel here to explain the miracles seen at Pentecost - ie. implying they were in 'the last days')

This next one is the kicker..

3:19 "REPENT then and turn to God,..
- SO THAT your sins may be wiped out,..
- THAT times of refreshing may come from the Lord,..
- AND THAT HE MAY SEND THE CHRIST who has been appointed for you - even Jesus.
He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as HE PROMISED LONG AGO through his holy prophets".

Note: This is why, in Acts 1, Jesus does not give a direct answer to the disciples' question, 'Will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?' - it was conditional.

And all these Acts-period epistles plainly show Christ's return was very imminent:

Romans:
13.11-12 "..the hour has come.. the night is nearly over, the day is almost here".
1 Corinthians:
7.29 "What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none.."
ie. don't have children, it won't be easy, "..because of the present crisis" (v26).
compare with Matt 24.19 'how dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers'.
10.11 "..for us, on whom the fulfilment of the ages has come".
15.51-52 'we will not all sleep.. and we will be changed'
1 Thessalonians:
4.15 'we who are still alive and are left to the coming of the lord'
4.17 'we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together..'
Hebrews:
1.2 "..but in these last days"
8.13 'the old covenant will soon disappear'
- also suggesting the new covenant had not yet come in.
9.36 'now he has appeared once for all, at the end of the ages'
10.37 'for in just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay'
James:
(to 'the rich' for being selfish)
5.3 "..you have hoarded wealth in the last days"
5.5 "..you have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter".
(to the 'brothers and sisters')
5.8 "..be patient and stand firm, for the Lord's coming is near".
5.9 "..the judge is standing at the door"
1 Peter:
1.20 - '..He (Jesus) was revealed in these last times for you..'
4.7 'the end of all things is near
2 Peter:
3.3-4 'in the last days scoffers will say 'where is this coming he promised''
1 John:
2.18 "..it is the last hour, as you have heard the Antichrist is coming, and even now many antichrists have come, this is how we know it is the last hour"
Jude:
17,18 'in the last times'
Revelation:
1.1 "..what must soon take place".
1.3 "..because the time is near".
3.11 "I am coming soon"
22.7 "I am coming soon"
22.12 "I am coming soon"
22.20 "yes, I am coming soon"

These are all Acts-period epistles (yes, even Revelation), and very much Jewish in focus.

The Jewish leadership rejected Jesus in the gospel period, and they were forgiven ('they know not what they do'). So the Acts period was their (Israel's) second chance to receive him. During that time many believed, but the leadership did not. From Jerusalem, to Antioch, and finally to Rome, they all rejected the message - and so finally, at end-Acts, Israel was put aside (for a time), with:

Acts 28:25-28:
"..And when they AGREED NOT among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, 'well spake the Holy Ghost by Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers, saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. BE IT KNOWN THEREFORE unto you, THAT THE SALVATION OF GOD IS SENT UNTO THE GENTILES, and that they will hear it'".

The first time this was stated (Isaiah) the result was Israel losing their kingdom and being sent into exile - same result here. The first time, the temple was destroyed and the people were removed from the land by the Babylonians. The last time, the temple was destroyed and the people were driven from the land by the Romans. It is a significant moment!

So, on with the story..

At some unknown point in time, this current period (dispensation) will come to a close, and the focus will again be on Israel as God's chosen people. The prophetic clock of Daniel, the seventy sevens, will resume, and it will all be over in a short time. Some say that clock has only seven years to run (the last 7yrs of the tribulation), others 14yrs or so. Either way, it is not long.

2. Christ will return AFTER the tribulation
- it cannot be before that, his return is what ENDS the tribulation.

3. The tribulation begins 3.5yrs into the peace deal with the anti-christ.
- there is no peace deal yet, so that clock hasn't started yet.

4. There needs to be a temple.
- the tribulation begins with the anti-christ profaning the temple and putting an end to the 'daily sacrifice', so there needs to be a temple - but clearly there is none currently. Some think the temple needs to exist before the 7yrs agreement starts, but I think it more likely the temple will only be allowed to be built as part of the 7yr agreement, not before. It will probably take a year or three to finish that, and at some point something (possibly the temple existing, or perhaps the daily sacrifices taking place) will tick off the anti-christ and his followers (muslims?) and there will be a total melt-down. Then I believe it will be a full 3.5yrs of troubles before Christ returns to put a stop to it.

Sorry for it being so long. I do get carried away. :)

Isaiah 17 has many clues for us ... worth reading this short chapter.

An oracle concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins.

Jesus will return in this generation.

Matt 24:32-34

Fig tree - Nation of Israel

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jer 24:2-6

Restoration of the nation of Israel. Israel was scattered in the world during the fall from Babylon.

1948 - nation of Israel was gathered together. (Fig tree putting forth its leaves)

Psalm 90:10

1 generation = 70/80 years

Gen 15:13,16

1 generation = 100 years

1948 + 80 = 2028
1948 + 100 = 2048

The end is near. Let's get to work and serve the Lord. We don't want to be left behind.

people have been saying 'the end is near' for many centuries, so i am very skeptical any of us know. for some reason it is always soon, and in our lifetime. we all like to think it is getting close (myself included), but really, it could still be some way off.
but i do agree, the creation of the jewish state has got to be a part of the build up.
also, from my biblical understanding, a 'generation' is 40yrs, but since 1988 came and went, people now look to larger numbered 'generations'. regardless, we can only be watchful. we simply do not know.

With respect, Jesus was talking to the generation he was preaching to. He was referring to the destruction of Jerusalem, which occurred some 35 years after his death, in fulfilment of the prophecy of Daniel. He says referring to His return "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
