I'm about to embark on a fast....

I know the Bible says we're not supposed to announce when we fast as it should be a private and personal thing. But I have been struggling with some spiritual issues for a very long time and I believe God has told me I need to fast for a specific amount of time. I'd like to ask for prayer over this time, for direction, restoration of my relationship with God and healing in specific spiritual areas : ) Any prayers would be much appreciated.

You are correct in that, Jesus said that when you fast, come your hair and wash your fast so that you don't appear to be fasting. The reason being is that you sabotage your reward from God when tell people that you are fasting. The same is true for praying out in the open being seen by people, and/or announcing it when you give to people, etc. Regarding this, Jesus said, "be careful not to do your good works to be seen by people." For those who do, their reward is the recognition of people.
