What should amaze all Christians is the effort made by some in striving to uphold false teachings. Their zeal is even greater than those who present and hold to the true doctrines of the Bible. And it does not matter how many relevant Scriptures are presented. You will never see a forsaking of the lies in favor of the truth.

However, we know that this was prophesied by both Christ and the apostles, so even though it is amazing in itself, it should not be surprising.

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron... (1 Timothy 4:1,2)

If any man teach otherwise [than sound doctrine] , and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (1 Timothy 6:3-5)

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. (2 Timothy 2:16-18)

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

So what do we learn from these passages?

1. False doctrines are doctrines of demons and seducing spirits.

2. They are not meant to edify but to engender envy and strife.

3. They come from minds which have been corrupted.

4. These false teachings are destitute of the truth.

5. False teachings are simply vain and profane babblings, totally unprofitable.

6. False doctrines are meant to overthrow the faith of some.

7. We are living in perilous times when people will not tolerate and accept sound doctrine.

8. We are simply to turn away from all the lies being promoted today.
