IMO this means man Is the highest In the physical creation and man not only Is carnal but he has a mind that can choose Intelligently but nevertheless GOD Is a SPIRIT and must be worshipped In Spirit and Truth.

What this now means is that believers will be ultimately transformed into the image of Christ -- perfected and glorified. And that Christ will be King of kings and Lord of lords, with dominion over the earth and the universe. But all His saints will be kings and priests under Him.

HEBREWS 2
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Rev 1:5,6)

hmmm....

I reflect on this:

Romans 8:19-23
19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; 20 for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; 23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

what has mankind done to creation?

says in Romans that creation was subjected to futility against its will

but even creation itself will be set free to be what it was meant to be

I see Jesus reconciling all things to Himself and until then we are, in labor pains

The first thing is to see what is meant by image and likeness and what dominion means. The image and likeness here means the same thing (a likeness, a reflection, a close resemblance). I believe this is talking about the character of God, his attributes, his ability to reason, think and create. We are given authority to rule over our territory and bring it under subjection in the manner of Kingdom.

given dominion over the earth and everything in it
it was said at the creation of Adam, that man should have dominion over all the living creatures. ((Genesis 1:26))
has anything relevant changed? is that same thing true of all mankind, now?
it was said to Noah, that the fear and dead of him would be on all the living creatures, and they would be given into his hand. ((Genesis 9:2))
has anything relevant changed? is that same thing true of all mankind, now?
Elihu said, to Job, that God teaches us more, and makes us wiser than all the living creatures. ((Job 35:11)) - and God speaks to Job about creatures over whom apparently man has no power, who have no fear of man ((Job 41))

the wind and the waves obey Christ -- is it the same for all of us? where is it said that the whole earth is put under us? ((maybe i missed it; just no verse is coming to mind))
does every creature obey us; does every creature fear us? are all things in the earth given into our hands?

is the thing said to Adam something that changed when sin entered the world? do we misappropriate this; does the presence and futility of sin affect man's dominion?

We were created in Their image. God is a Triune God and man is a triune being. Body, soul, spirit.

We are His chosen creation to become His chosen children.......... He has charged us to be good Stewards of all His creations, and He gave us dominion over them to both enrich our lives and ensure that they are cared for as He would have us care for them.

Dominion over the old earth or the new one to come?

2 Peter 3:13 NASBS
[13] But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Galatians 6:14-15 NASBS
[14] But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. [15] For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NASBS
[17] Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
God gave man dominion Kingdom Authority) which he lost after the fall and Jesus brought us back what man lost.

Not a good investment...Sell..Sell..Sell...

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Luke 4:5,6 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

We have no power, in and of ourselves. What we have is the Lord Jesus Christ in us (Col 1:27). The Lord Jesus Christ has been given a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Phil 2:9-11).

The Lord Jesus Christ has power over all and we know that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

When we are born again we become Sons of God. The process will be completed at the resurrection when our mortal bodies will be transformed into immortal ones.

We are made in the image of God meaning we look like the Father in shape.. We are not made in the substance of God meaning we are not perfect as He is..

Adam and Eve where originally given dominion over the earth and everything in it.. But after the fall i would say that 100% dominion was reduced..

Well let's consider something and take it from there.. Man meaning the human species are the only ones created to have eternal life. Where you will spend it ......well that's another story.

Dominion...,.. its given to tend the garden.... knowledge of it's care and the creatures in it.

The image and likeness dose not mean shape in this verse. It is about God giving us his character and authority to fill the earth with his nature.

What you said was (underline mine):

God gave man dominion Kingdom Authority) which he lost after the fall and Jesus brought us back what man lost.

I merely stated that the Lord Jesus Christ has all authority and power ... we have no power in and of ourselves. Only in Him are we able to overcome and you have now clarified that also is your understanding. :)

Wrong....we were created by Christ and for Christ....we were made in HIS IMAGE
