Would it be correct to say "Jesus took the punishment for my sins"?

Maybe a better question is, did Jesus take the punishment for our sins?

I've got a thick skull. Could people ignore the first question I asked and answer the second one instead?

Hmmm..........tell me what you think is the answer to your question.........
He died for our sins, I might be having trouble taking it further than that because I might have asked before in chat if Jesus took the wrath of God in our place and may have gotten an answer (or maybe more than one answer) sort of close to "God wouldn't be wrathful with His own Son", that might be making it hard for me to figure out if Jesus was punished for our sins (by God the Father I guess, not exactly sure who Jesus was punished by if He was punished for our sins). GotQuestions.org may have also told me that Jesus didn't take the wrath of God for us.

Possibly by one of their answerers through email (or maybe more than one answerer).

I'm not sure if it's written on their actual website that Jesus didn't take the wrath of God for us. I was told that by an answerer or answerers if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think any of us like it that Yeshua/Jesus had to die for us because of our sins but, when we realize there was no other way, we are so grateful and thankful for what our Father in Heaven and His Word in the Flesh Yeshua/Jesus did for us.

Yes, God the Father poured out His wrath upon Christ on the cross because the Father had placed all the sins of the world on His One and Only Lamb (God's Lamb) in order to save His whole household (the Family of God).

Before the lamb was slained the father of the family would place his hand on the head of the lamb and transfer all the sins of the household onto the lamb and then the lamb would be slain and the blood poured out for the forgiveness of their sins. This had to be done once a year. I'm so thankful Yeshua/Jesus did it for us once and for all.

Yeshua/Jesus even asked His Father if there was some other way, if the cup could pass from Him but, there wasn't and Yeshua/Jesus responded, "Nevertheless, not my will but Yours be done."

It would be a horrible thing if we were to reject what God has done for us. Just be grateful and receive Christ with thanksgiving and ask the Holy Spirit for clarity.

God's ways are higher than ours. It's God's creation, it's God's plan, He knows what He wants and He will accomplish all that He has planned. Rest in His love for you. Peace.(y)

So Jesus did take the wrath of God for us and was punished for our sins? (by God the Father I guess?)

Yes, but He also gives us His righteousness. His Blood takes away our sin and His Body is the Human fulfillment of the Law for us - The Lord Our Righteousness.

Let me explain. God wants and deeply desires His creation to know Him and to love Him - He wants a loving relationship with all of us, with you LeeLoving. However, Love CANNOT be created. God cannot just create us already in love with Him.

Love has to have a choice or it is not love, it is manipulation or just a bunch of programmed robots. God had to create us with the "capacity to love" meaning we would have to have a choice - we have to "choose" to love God, then it is love.

Having this "freedom of choice" got us in trouble and God knew it would but, He had to do it. So, He made a safety net for us - the Lamb of God was slained BEFORE the foundation of the world. Now, here's the sad part - we also have to "choose" to be saved. Ughhh! All these choices are getting us in trouble! But, if we can make the RIGHT choices it will go well with us and we can know and love God and be in constant fellowship with Him.

So, God made it simple and even told us what to choose....... "I set before you Life and Death. Choose Life."

Yeshua/Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."

I choose Life! I choose Yeshua/Jesus as my Lord, Savior and King. I want to know God and love Him. I've been with Him now for 30 years and loooooooooove God sooooooo dearly! He loves me back - it's wonderful!

Make the RIGHT choice - choose Life! Choose Yeshua/Jesus! He's the only way back to the Father.

His Blood for the forgiveness of our sin (wrong choices) and His Body which is His Righteousness that He gives to us - both His Blood and Body get us reconciled back to our Heavenly Father!(y)
