What is TRUE FORGIVENESS of others?

I leave this in your hands to dicusss!

Quite a few dimensions here.
If i am crucified with christ,and dead to the passions,emotions,lust,and allurements of this world,then forgiveness is in my grasp. I need only to grab that forgiveness and apply it.
Maybe even do a little something for them.

What if it were inverted?
What if it took unbelievable effort to hold a grudge.
Like a person has to go for Counceling and get help to hold a grudge.

Imo even ppl without God can truly forgive others. It is about how much love we have!Agape of course is God's love,but His children struggle with forgiving others! When the Lord forgives us it is cast away NEVER to be remembered! This IMO is where ppl fail they don't cast the offense away,they hold it as a grudge to be brought up in case of reoffense! If His love abides in us and we abide in Him then our love should be like His!

Hello, I think true forgiveness is one that comes from the heart and not in word only

Well, most of us do fairly well with those that love us back. What about those family, friends and neighbors that are very hard to love.

How we handle a close friend or family member we just had a fight with tells us just where are are in God's eyes. Hate only hurts the hater. We need to forgive and let loose our hostility even if they don't reciprocate. If they insist on your being separated from them you, honor that. You can still love them from a distance, and it will show.

Now, how about that hard to love neighbor? WE plug along doing quite well loving our neighbors, then the devil, himself, moves in next door. That is where the test of our faith will prove its mettle, or not!

Jesus has given me a power that when used changes things not only on this earth but in heaven as well. If you wrong me or my family you will answer to God,unless, I forgive you. I have the power to change how you appear before God in heaven. I can hardly rap my mind around this. What POWER !!!

I can agree Perfection! My prayers have changed many ppl and situations in my life!
We must always be forgiving (it is hard ,I know) and always show love,His.love conquers more than we EVER could!

True forgiveness means not holding grudges or being bitter against others. It also means putting away past hurts completely instead of dwelling on them. But it does not mean condoning what is wrong.

I agree especially in the condoning or enabling,however I will add this.....we leave all OUR judgements at the altar before Him! He alone has the ability to effect correction,chastiment and change!

This is not biblical.
We do not control G-d. Therefore we do not have power...except thru prayer....to intervene in G-d's plan...whatever that is. With prayer intervention......G-d has the power of discretion to respond to the prayer request or not.

Just because we forgive does not mean G-d is happy with the offender.
