I may want to do a topical study on God's love throughout the bible. Any tips and advice about how to go about it?

Great idea...

I enjoyed doing a study on the names of God. It helped/helps me to learn about His character and patterns. I also just put "God's Love" in the search of you version bible app and verse after verse came up. Thank you as I think it is a great idea for me too.

I think no matter how much we study, we will never fathom just how grand and holy His love is. However, studying His love and mercy is a beautiful thing.

We are so very blessed with Him and His love, huh?

You could start with a topical search of the word "love" in the Bible. For instance: https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=love&qs_version=NASB&limit=500

And/or you could base it on a book, like this one by Dr. Carson.

Or you could do an in-depth study on 1 Corinthians 13. https://biblehub.com/commentaries/1_corinthians/13.htm

1 Corinthians 13
6 Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.

A DOCUMENTATION OF “LOVE” IN THE FOUR GOSPELS:

(I believe this is what Christians should focus on.........just saying)

Matthew 3:17) And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my[beloved] Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 5:44) But I say unto you, [Love] your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 .) That ye maybe the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 .) For if ye [love]them which [ love] you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Matthew 6:5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they[ love] to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you,They have their reward…………………………….24) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and [love] the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 10:37) He that [loveth] father or mother more than e is not worthy of me: and he that[ loveth] son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt[ love] the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mark 9:7) And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: anda voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my [beloved] Son: hear him.

Mark 10:21) Then Jesus beholding him [loved] him, and saidunto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, andgive to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up thecross, and follow me.

Mark12:30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thyheart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:this is the first commandment.

And the secondis like, namely this, Thou shalt [love] thy neighbour as thyself……….33) And to [love]him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to [love] his neighbour as himself, is more thanall whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Luke 3:22) And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shapelike a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my[beloved] Son; in thee I am well pleased.

True. As far as lifetime (including life in the age to come) endeavors go however, I don't think you could do much better :)

I'll add one...

Ephesians 3:19 (NASB) and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
