Born Saved

I have a question for all of you that have indicated on your profile page that you were saved at birth;

Have you been 'born again' yet?

3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Have you ever yet come to a point in your life when you have made a conscious decision to follow the Lord? Do you believe that being saved means something different from being born again?

Is this really the case? Every human being needs to be born again -- regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit.

There is no such thing as "born saved" or "saved at birth"..

The water spoken of is not of the womb, but of the word of God.
Jesus said we must drink His blood to have eternal life. Without it, we have no life.
When Jesus was dead on the cross and the soldier pierced Him in the side, John said both blood and water came out.
God said in the old testament, the life of the body is in the blood.
And in the new testament, Jesus said you are clean through the word and Paul talked about the washing of water by the word.
The blood has a dual meaning. It is both the life of the physical and spiritual body. The physical blood gives life to the physical body and the spiritual blood gives life to the spiritual body.
The Holy Spirit is the spiritual blood of Jesus, He said we must drink, as well as the water, or the word of God.
The bible also states we are born again BY the word of God itself.
The water Jesus spoke of is not of the womb but of His blood.

That is one interpretation...….and I have heard it more than once.....problem comes when reading all of the passage of Scripture..... just saying

Water of the womb would be completely IRRELEVANT. The physical birth is a given. Jesus was speaking about spiritual and heavenly things as He clearly told Nicodemus. What then is the *water* or *clean water* (metaphorical) which is necessary for the NEW BIRTH? Definitely not normal physical birth, since every creature is born from its mother's womb. And while that is always a miracle, it is also commonplace, and results in humans who are spiritually dead.

However water is a metaphor for two things in the Bible (1) the Word of God or the Gospel and (2) the Holy Spirit (for whom oil is also a metaphor).

Since Jesus already stated that one must be born of the Spirit (meaning that the Holy Spirit is the divine Agent who brings about the supernatural New Birth) then the water means the Gospel itself.

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (the Gospel) and Romans 10 explains how the Gospel is necessary for sinners to be saved. Peter takes it one step further and says that the Gospel is the *incorruptible seed* of the New Birth (1 Peter 1:23-25), James says that the Word of Truth is the seed of the New Birth (James 1:18), and Paul says that THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION to them that believe (Rom 1:16).

The Gospel generates saving faith -- faith in Christ and His finished work of redemption -- and that in turn produces the New Birth (John 1:12,13): But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

What Christians should understand is that the written Word of God (which includes the Gospel) is a living and powerful Word, since it is always accompanied by the Holy Spirit and the words of Christ are "spirit and life": For the Word of God is quick [living] , and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His [God's] sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him [the Holy Spirit] with whom we have to do. (Heb 4:12,13)

The idea that on can be born saved is based on a faulty knowledge of what born again entails.

Jesus said no man could come unto Him (infers coming to be saved) except the Father draw him. How is an as yet unborn child drawn to Christ? John 16:8-11 describes the drawing of the Holy Spirit.

Being born again involves repentance and Godly sorrow for sin. Can an unborn child have sorrow for sin and repentance toward God?

Hearing the gospel and responding to the gospel is not possible for the unborn or the new born.

all are born unsaved. and need to be saved

what it comes to john 3:5 i believe its talking about water baptism and spirit baptism. because st. john the baptist's ministry was water baptize and repentance to be ready to receive the messiah when He comes. then when messiah resurrects the plan changes and HE will baptize with spirit. john baptized with water, Jesus with Spirit

i do not mean by it that i was saved at birth. i mean by it that He knew me before i was even born.

I would interject here. The water of the womb at our birth is not irrelevant. Humans are born of blood as well. Blood and water from the womb bring life into life in this world that God hath made.
Recalling Jesus our Lord on the cross pierced in his side. From him did flow water and blood. "It is accomplished".

God's word is living water, this is true. However, God calls whom he will to His Son. No one of us comes to Jesus except that the Father hath called us. And the Father called us because he knew us before we were born. He wrote our name into the Lambs Book of Life and no one will ever blot that out.

Further, the message of precious Jesus was not written scripture being read by Him to those who followed His ministry about the land. Jesus spoke truth to the multitudes because the Father spoke through him. Therefore, there was not a Bible present. The Word was Christ himself. The Book of John chapter 1. All of it please, so as to arrive at the full understanding of the message.

We are not brought to God through the words in the Bible. We are brought to God through The Word that is Jesus the Christ, as The Word that is alive in the beginning of all things, God the Father. The Bible leads us to the truth of God in Christ. However, Jesus pre-existed the scriptures we now cherish. The Word of God is God.

The will of the Father for us that hearken unto the words of The Word so as to arrive in the Son. His spirit filled words called our heart to respond to the giver of the name we were born to uphold and reflect in that Book of Life.

The Book of John Chapter 16 and verses 8 through 11
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

John 7:38 and John 4:14

Are you stating that Jesus is not drawing drawing and analogy for Nicodemus between the physical birth and the spiritual birth?

Actually Jesus was DISMISSING physical birth as being irrelevant to what He had in mind: "That which is born of the flesh is flesh" (John 3:6). To paraphrase:

1. This is totally irrelevant and you are focusing on that, instead of what I am talking about.

2. Human birth is simply human birth (flesh) and has nothing to do with spiritual regeneration.

3. The one born physically is bound by *the flesh* (the old Adamic sin nature) until he or she is born again. Hence the absolute necessity of the New Birth.

It is irrelevant if a baby or young child is a born again believer or not.
Scripture is clear.
Sin is not imputed to any before they know the law.

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once [when he was a child]: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

When sin revived and Paul died, spiritually, that is, at that moment in time forward, Paul needed to receive Jesus as his lord and savior, NOT prior to that moment.
All during his childhood, Paul would have gone to heaven if he died because the sins he committed, and like most children do, he sinned a lot, would not have been imputed to him.
God is a just and loving God to the innocent.
