I can only think you guys are trolling me. NO-ONE can think that calling a person's argument insane, (as in crazy, outrageous, or shocking) is the same thing as calling that person insane. You would have to have never read a book in your life.

Yes, I know what a straw man is.. But instead of saying it's crazy or insane, or whatever, all you (general you) need to say instead is something like "that's silly" or "that makes no sense".. Just a slightly nicer approach.
