I am a little tardy in initiating this thread, but I thought it might be beneficial to draw attention to this day of prayer for persecuted believers worldwide. Feel free to write a prayer, comment on the subject of the persecuted Church, tell an inspiring true story you've heard of someone who endured through persecution...whatever. Let's just remember our brothers and sisters who are encountering attack and tribulation. 🙏

Hello, @Deuteronomy. 🙂 It is today. It is observed on the first Sunday in November each year, I believe. Thanks for your response.

I would encourage everyone who hasn't to check out persecution.com (the Voice of the Martyrs website). It has been a powerful impetus in my life to commit my all to Christ. One of the books they produced is Extreme Devotion. If you desire to read true stories of Christians who did commit their all to Christ, you should so read this book!!

One of my favorite quotes from Extreme Devotion: "Commitment that is unprepared to sacrifice is merely compromise in disguise... The believer's commitment to Christ must exact a price in order to maintain its value. We must prepare for the test of our commitment by daily affirming that Christianity is worth it." (page 3)

That quote reminds me of this poem by Amy Carmichael :)

~Deut

Hast thou no scar?
No hidden scar on foot, or side, or hand?
I hear thee sung as mighty in the land;
I hear them hail thy bright, ascendant star.
Hast thou no scar?

Hast thou no wound?
Yet I was wounded by the archers; spent,
Leaned Me against a tree to die; and rent
By ravening beasts that compassed Me, I swooned.
Hast thou no wound?

No wound? No scar?
Yet, as the Master shall the servant be,
And piercèd are the feet that follow Me.
But thine are whole; can he have followed far
Who hast no wound or scar?

That's awesome. 🙂 I read Elisabeth Elliott's book about Amy Carmichael entitled "A Chance to Die" a few months ago. It was insightful and gave me respect for Miss Carmichael. What a bondservant of the Lord!
Thanks for posting that, Deut. 🙂
