Hypocrisy is hard to avoid

Young guy wants to marry. Works at a factory and job future looks bleak. Future spouse likes the guy anyway.
Girls father concerned about future son in law. Can he support my daughter and future grandkids?
When you get older you realise that when roles change you have a different perspective. The young hopfeul factory worker becomes the protective father one day. We all want the best for our kids. And some of us hope they marry up not down. 😂

As you get older you get to play more roles. (though I have never actually had kids). You realise how focussed we can be on our own needs instead of others.
I would be an overprotective parent for sure. Especially with a daughter. Im bad enough with my dog.

I think it's natural to want your grandkids to be better off than you were. Not necessarily hypocritical. It probably depends on how far you go with it.
