At Church today we were blessed with some fine readings. This was the first one, an awesome story of 7 sons and their mother tortured and killed for their faith in God.
[When this one was dead, they subjected the 4th to the same savage torture. When he neared his end he cried, "Ours is the better choice, to meet death at men's hands, yet relying on God's promise that we shall be raised up by him, whereas for you there can be no resurrection, no new life . "]
How important it is for us to have faith and believe in the resurrection! How many of us will be truly tested like this? And become martyrs?
The connecting Gospel reading today was Luke 20: 27-38. How the Saducees tried to make Jesus look like a fool in regard to the Resurrection theme.
