I am afraid the context of your question is unclear.

Is it possible that there will be three and not two?

I would suggest two witnesses. The law and the prophets typified by Moses used to represent the letter of the law that kills. Together with prophets. Typified by Elijah. The power of the unseen gospel. The law of faith that heals and creates anew. Two laws working as one perfect (sola scriptura) or all things written in the law and prophets .

It would seem they are made to no effect or killed as in "no faith" for a period of time. Both witnesses are shown as prophecy that which declares the gospel

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

In another way it can be two or three witnesses . The number it takes to make up a sect or a family. Two or three walking in agreement to one authority of the gospel .

Water and blood two common metaphors together represent the work of the Spirit that works in us to both will and perform his good pleasure

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

If you are referring to Revelation 11, there are only two. If you add the flying angel in Revelation 14, then there are three.

I wonder if the flying angel is the messenger bringing the two witness .The gospel or the word of God .

I've read several places in the bible that seem to indicate three, but maybe I'm reading into it.

Well I meant the two witnesses in Revelation, could there be three?
aside from however people muse about the interpretation of who/what they are, why would the scripture say "two" if there are actually three?

That would be interesting, there are more than 3 angels in Revelation.

Well like someone said in another thread lol, could be a way to throw off the enemey?
. . because Satan might read the Bible and we don't want to give away our troop movements?
so the Bible would be full of deliberate misinformation?

um..

"i disagree"

All I know is that I posed a question because things I"ve read in The Bible seem to indicate three but I'm no Bible scholar just have an inquisitive mind.
well, there are a lot of threes in the Bible. there are also a lot of twos.
i think, if He put "
two" He didn't mean "seventeen" He meant "two" - so to me a better question is "why 2? why not 51?"

maybe the things you're thinking of are all connected with each other, but they're not about Revelation 11; they're about something else?

Yes, this could be true. You're right could be related on other things but not referring to Revelation.
