At The Brackish Water

He came to me one day
At the pond of brackish water
My twelve year old frame
Sprawled out, fully extended

A tenebrous state
For a spry little youngster

He asked of my desire
The Savior, my Savior
My 12 year old eyes
Remained opaque, wretched lineage!

Lord, I can’t fathom, I can’t cogitate
Bereaved, I lamented...

He spat on the ground
Made some mud in his hand
Shook my earth, smeared some on
Told me, “Wash right this instant”

He watched as I flushed
That mud from my eyes
My twelve year old heart
Morphed as large as a planet

I can see, I can see!
Yesterday and forever

I kneel down and pray
At the pond of brackish water
Never forgetting that day
Spent with my Savior
