5-5-12 or 7-4-7?

Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them
more than one loaf. And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread. And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread?
perceive ye not yet, neither understand?
have ye your heart yet hardened? Having eyes, see ye not?
and having ears, hear ye not?
and do ye not remember? When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve. And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven. And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand? (Mar 8:14-21)

Our calculations are not God's calculations.
So here we have two instances of Jesus miraculous feedings. One time he uses more fish (7) gives to fewer people (4000) and has fewer leftovers (7 baskets).
Compare that to having fewer fish (5) to feed more people (5000) and yet have more left over (12 baskets).

Our resources are immaterial to God, He can do more with less. He is after our willingness.

Ever notice what was given....everything....not a half of fish or of bread.

Trusting the Lord with everything you have is one of the hardest things we are asked to do. May the Lord give us this heart.

Right. My main take-away was that God can do just as much with less as He can with more.

Just to note...does it not say 5000 men BESIDES women and children? If so....that indicates a number higher than 5000 people.......

and to add to this....remember when there was but enough MEAL and OIL to make ONE cake.....and the prophet got served 1st and then for a year (if I remember right) the OIL and MEAL did not run out as ALL three were fed....

GOD can do something WITH NOTHING......

Might have been, the topic is rich in pondering like what Dcon mentioned the men was mainly counted as the 5000 and 4000 why is that any ideas?

I wonder if there's anything worth noting about the left overs?
We're they not thinking of others to give to? Irreverence for what was given?
Didn't have the ability to take more with them?
I somewhat always imagined that scene of scraps left all over the ground like we see after some concert or carnival these days.
