Paul is praying for the Ephesians as he is getting ready
to depart. As always he gives the people in places he
visits. It's sort of a rally cry of togetherness and peace
in their work with each other. He wants them to come
closer and not further apart. He clearly states that love
surpasses knowledge. That is really important and very
necessary because sometimes we can get full of who
we are by what we know. So here we are told that it is
not relevant for anyone to feel superior to anyone else.
When we have love, we should be reassured that we are
in the arms of God. Of course as bearers of the word,
we are to pass it on to help especially the newly initiated
to learn about God. But even in that scenario, it is wise
to have love first. Because if we don't have love, how can
we teach love.
