Hands up who enjoys meetings. Staff or otherwise.
Is there any way to make them more fun?

And how to stop people from talking for way too long, and me falling asleep??

When I am in meetings it usually doesnt get boring. I have too much humor for that.
Its only boring when its some sort of educational stuff where u just have to listen. There i make notes and doodle pictures

some people just go on and on and hog the meeting and dont actually let anyone else speak. By the time they want to have a turn, the time is up.

I dont like that. I think you have to let everyone have their say otherwise its not really a meeting. More like a lecture.

? i dont get what you are saying.
I would just leave but you cant just leave in the middle of a meeting, you have to say Ive got only this long and have to leave. You can always read the minutes later so why even bother coming if not allowed to participate.

in my meetings I make sure everyone can have the chance to speak. if they dont want to its fine but no way would I be overriding anyones chance to say their piece. Just because you invite people to ameeting doesnt mean you the only one who speaks in the entire meeting and all they have to do is listen.

we have a talking stick or microphone which we pass round.

But some meetings are not like that. For some it does feel like you are made to go to to make up numbers I suppose.

we have a phrase 'there is too much hui and not enough doey'

a hui is the maori word for meeting.
Im kinda enjoying the social distancing thing cos most meetings have been cancelled for the time being.
