I adopted the Humanist Beliefs when in my teens and still follow them.
  • There are no supernatural beings.
  • The material universe is the only thing that exists.
  • Science provides the only reliable source of knowledge about this universe.
  • We only live this life - there is no after-life, and no such thing as reincarnation.
  • Human beings can live ethical and fulfilling lives without religious beliefs.
  • Human beings derive their moral code from the lessons of history, personal experience, and thought

To answer the question do religious beliefs change as we age?
There is no general answer to this. Some start full of zeal, seeing only black and white. possibly judgmental and continue with these opinions or get even stronger.
Others are more open to loving others and mellow as they accept others beliefs, after all, in the Bible there are times when both sides of the question can be proven. This does not mean compromise, but love and grace.

Hi Lon1934,
I agree with post #4.
- You can get more comments / discussion..
If your topic moves to 'Bible Discussion Forum.'
You will get negative comments/arguments though...
- I understand..that is why you do not move this topic there.
---
It is interesting topic.
- Maybe, you are searching/seeking some answers?
..at your stage / phase.
- Even though, you say that you all figured out & not changing..
---
I still remember dish/menu pictures.. one of your early posts.

Religious beliefs do change or improve over time as we grow in understanding, life experiences, and God's 4 revelations can guide us. God's natural, supernatural, Bible, and relational.

Is this scientifically verifiable?
Metaphysical elements dont exist?
Science wouldn't be possible without God. Science isn't a enemy to God but time and time again proves the scriptures to be true. Also in perspective the Bible was never intended to be a science book but a relationship book with the key concept of soul salvation. It has scientific knowledge within it but is not going to explain everything.
  • We only live this life - there is no after-life, and no such thing as reincarnation.
Is this scientifically verifiable? The reincarnation of Jesus alone has a tremendous amount of evidence. Read a few of Gary Habermas's books on the evidence for the resurrection. Gary is probably the number one expert on the resurrection. https://garyhabermas.com/
  • Human beings can live ethical and fulfilling lives without religious beliefs.
Does history compliment this belief? And without a objective morality which beliefs are ethical? How do we define ethical?
  • Human beings derive their moral code from the lessons of history, personal experience, and thought
How often does history tend to repeat itself? Which moral code is best? There is no moral code or moral law if everything is only material. There would be no mind. Only brain. We would only have instincts, chemical reactions, and running off survival of the fittest instinct. Only the fittest or powerful dictate who survives. Is personal experience reliable? Are human thoughts always reliable?

Just curios; why are you here?

Is this your idea of humor? I hope so.

If that is science, it is definitely a very crippled and blinded version. The greatest evidence if all is sadly lacking in your 'version'.

I hope you don't think that pretending there is no hell will keep you from going there.

How do you explain logic and rationality if we are just biological anomalies reacting to chemical impulses?

Romans 1
1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

I would like to include that if it is answers you seek to these Biblical contradictions then you are in the right place. Debate is good if done in a healthy way. There will be some who get flustered by these objections but dont let individuals behaviors stop you from rationalizing the counter arguments. We love you because God calls us to love you. Love doesn't mean tolerance but love for the individual soul. We focus on soul salvation so certain topics can be the difference between life and death.

Hi Lon, It's getting late but not too late .. Stop your nonsense , repent and call on Jesus name .. Jesus is the Son of God , He came to die for us and did as the Lamb of God for our sins and to keep us from eternal hell , He was buried and rose from the dead seen by many to prove there is life after death .. He spent His life on earth showing us how to act towards both man and God .. His gift of eternal life is free to whosoever will believe and repent to rely on His righteousness with faith .. He will return when all prophecy is fulfilled .. All will be judged whether you believe it or not ...

Here's a simple question for you .. If evolution is all about survival then why is there death ? Why can't evolution solve the problem of old age to death .. Why can't evolution simply evolve mitochondria and telomeres that continue to make perfect cell replication to stay young forever ..

Why do you say Old Age & Death are problems? All things age and die.

You said you believe in evolution , evolution states that survival drives life , old age and death refutes the law of evolution .. Death come by sin and is not a problem for me .. Death is a problem for those who do not believe God came to earth as a man 2000 yrs ago ..
Death is soul spiritual separation from God for eternity, not ceasing to exist

You are an Atheist headed for hell very shortly, I was an Atheist when I was young and probably as nasty as you've ever been even though I was convinced I was smarter and better than any Christians at the time .. I never feared death or hell until I found out the Truth .. Now I'm afraid for you and others and must get your blood off my hands .. You need Jesus as your Savior , He loves you and died for all .. I've witnessed the supernatural since believing on Jesus and it is real Bro, and the Word of God is true , Millions and millions have ..

You like to twist things around bo jack. I never once said I believe in evolution

Where did I say I was a Atheist. I am a Humanist and you my friend are not very Christian with your misrepresentations.
