Is Romans 10:9 saying if you confess to other people that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God the Father raised him from the dead, you will be saved?

Did I get any of that wrong?

I have another question, what does it mean that Jesus is Lord?

Only a Christian can confess Jesus is Lord. The verse should read:

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Confessing the Lod Jesus is confessing His testimony of salvation per the cross.

The Lord is God.

You are correct to believe that Jesus is the Lord and that he was crucified and resurrected by the Father. Jesus is alive and ascended to the right hand of power to prepare for the End of the earth and heavens and time and the coming of God's Kingdom for eternity. Praise Jesus.

Here's a thought I had...is confess with thy mouth talking about the literal mouth since believing with the heart is not the literal heart? The heart of man is the inner man, the soul. Is verbal communication necessary or inner prayer?

It means as Lord he owns us .His name is Jealous he own all things. He will not share his glory with the clay he forms Christ in as if he was served by human hands.

His word is law. What he says is the final authority in matters of faith the unseen as two walking together as one. Like the father and the Son. Or like my wife and my wife. LOL

The soul of man is the communication between the mind and the new heart of the spirit .

We are informed that God alone knows the hearts of men beforehand to be give to us the desires of our new hearts .

No law, many prayer in the closet in secret other desire for more corporate. Jesus at the beginning of his three day demonstration asked for prayer in the garden as he suffered unto death as the father poured out His wrath on the Son .
He and was sent strength. But the father had put the disciples to asleep to show the nature of the demonstration . . "he and the father alone" no outsiders . Jesus cried out and was strengthened again .After he was finished he awoke them and said he was being betrayed by the hands of the enemies . That portion of the demonstration was used on the cross .

The garden demonstration provided the spiritual understanding. On that part of demonstration the work of suffering sweating as if it was blood (blood represents the unseen spirit. That demonstration was attributed to the hands of sinners. The last part of the three day demonstration when he was in the tomb

2 Chronicles 6:30 Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)

Anyone can call someone a Lord. The litmus test to authenticate an alleged believer's faith that Jesus is literally Lord is if they sincerely and genuinely believe God raised Him from the dead. We don't see people get raised from the dead like ever. So this is a hard pill for some to swallow and a concept hard to relate to. Those who know God know that all things are possible with God.

When Jesus said "Lazarus, come forth!" And raised him from the dead it happened. Now imagine if Jesus said "Come forth!" and omitted the name of Lazarus; perhaps all of those dead would have risen. Do you believe this?

To me Jesus Lord mean Jesus is the boss that direct our life.

James 2:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

I think devil also believe Jesus is God, but It not save them

Believe in the sense of follow His teaching saved you.
Believe Jesus God but do not want to follow His teaching is like what devil do

1 Corinthians 12:3 - Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

People receive the Holy Spirit when they believe, right? Man, I think I just need to talk to a good pastor and maybe stop asking questions here and maybe other places. It might be me, but I might not be making much progress.

No, it is not confessing to others, it is confessing to God upon repentance.

Matthew Henry said:

The self-condemned sinner need not perplex himself how this righteousness may be found. When we speak of looking upon Christ, and receiving, and feeding upon him, it is not Christ in heaven, nor Christ in the deep, that we mean; but Christ in the promise, Christ offered in the word. Justification by faith in Christ is a plain doctrine. It is brought before the mind and heart of every one, thus leaving him without excuse for unbelief. If a man confessed faith in Jesus, as the Lord and Saviour of lost sinners, and really believed in his heart that God had raised him from the dead, thus showing that he had accepted the atonement, he should be saved by the righteousness of Christ, imputed to him through faith. But no faith is justifying which is not powerful in sanctifying the heart, and regulating all its affections by the love of Christ. We must devote and give up to God our souls and our bodies: our souls in believing with the heart, and our bodies in confessing with the mouth. The believer shall never have cause to repent his confident trust in the Lord Jesus. Of such faith no sinner shall be ashamed before God; and he ought to glory in it before men.

People receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit when they believe.............the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is not always received upon conversion/repentance.............. Receiving the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is taught by the Apostle Paul in the Book of Acts.............by the laying on of hands of a Sanctified believer to a new believer

It means exactly what it says. To believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord is to believe everything that is written about Him, particularly His finished work of redemption. But then you must make Christ Lord and Master of your life by receiving Him, and through a total surrender of yourself to Him as both Lord and Savior.

Once you have done this God expects you to make a public profession of faith, even if it is among a few. And that is best done just before you are baptized as a believer. In fact, the person baptizing you should ask you to make this profession of faith as Philip asked the Ethiopian in Acts 8. Confessing with the mouth is proclaiming with your mouth that you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and received Him as Lord and Savior.

"Jesus is Lord" in that He is God who became Man in order to offer Himself as the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. But because He rose again the third day, He has also demonstrated His power and His victory over sin, death, Hades, Hell, and Satan. And therefore God the Father has given Christ ALL AUTHORITY (exousia) in Heaven and on earth (Matt 28:18). He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. All the angels (including the evil angels and demons) are under His authority. And at His Second Coming, He will come "with power and great glory" (with His saints and angels) to defeat and destroy all His enemies, and establish the Kingdom of God on earth.

God knows our response to Him. How our heart is. Does He really need us to literally speak? I'm not sure but surely silent prayer would suffice

You get alot of different responses here. Going to a bible believing pastor is the best idea.

Anyway.. I say compare Romans 10:9 with Acts 10:28 and John 3:16

Confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead are not two separate steps to salvation, but are chronologically together. Romans 10:8 - But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (TOGETHER) that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, (notice the reverse order from verse 9-10) - that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Confess/believe; believe/confess.

1 Corinthians 12:3 - Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except BY the Holy Spirit. There is divine influence or direct operation of the Holy Spirit in the heart of a person when confessing Jesus as Lord. This confession is not just a simple acknowledgment that Jesus is the Lord (even the demons believe that), but is a deep, personal conviction from the heart that Jesus is that person's Lord and Savior.
