John the baptist said one coming after him would baptize with the Holy Ghost. He was not referring to the 12 apostles. The Bible does not say that the apostles gave Philip the Holy Spirit or the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
My OP shows exactly what scripture says without adding to it. Where does scripture expand John the Baptists' words in Acts? 12 were present and received what John said they would. Jesus later told the 12 they would receive the baptism. Phillip was one of several the apostles laid hands on, followed by his work with the same signs and wonders they did. Don't add to this or take away from God's word.

[/QUOTE] God's word is dangerous when you add your ideas to it. Many do this without knowing. This is why I present only what scripture says about the Holy Spirit in Acts. It helps not to add ideas to the rest of the scriptures. Much caution is needed today.

Sign seekers. No sign is given . Believers walk by faith as the power of God in them .Not of them. The unseen.

The foundation of h20 baptism (old testament) must be first established . It is what the discussion was about in John 3:25 If we eliminate the foundation of the doctrines and like Davis said in the Psalms. What could the righteous that are guarding the faith of Christ do. Look at water baptism from a unknown foundation?

Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.John3:25-26

Notice scripture says the Apostles laid hands on Phillip and he from then on worked signs and wonders. Based on that, we can assume Paul did the same for Barnabas. As well as the Corinthians. But notice Phillip could not do the same for the Samarians. Only the Apostles could give them the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The gospel is after no man to include the apostles. New meaning has been added to that word.(apostle).. destroying the use in many places.

The apostles as us today can plant the born again seed of faith as it is written and water it with the water of the word as the doctrine of God that fall like rain .

But Christ must perform the unseen work of baptism . Bringing those doctrine that do fall like rain inspired from above teaching us not to add to it as it is written or take away from it .

Nope.

Go back, read the scriptures every time the Holy Spirit is mentioned.(y)
The Holy Spirit entering the soul is the new birth. Quickening the dead soul to new life in Christ. The concept of a second baptism remains a convention of man and wholly unbiblical. Scripture does teach a filling of the Holy Spirit for power to minister.

The fundamental belief that the Holy Spirit is the one who regenerates the lost soul is critical to a proper soteriology. To assert that the Holy Spirit baptizes at a point after salvation is wrong in the extreme.

The long ending of Mark 16 is not a good place to find doctrinal support. The long ending of Mark is thought to be of questionable origin. It is missing from many manuscripts having been examined thought to be from a writer other than Mark. Building doctrine on such contested scripture is unwise and not persuasive.

The gift of the Holy Spirit is for all believers. The Baptism was only for the 12 Apostles to confirm their apostleship. Later Paul received it as a sign of his apostleship. Where does it say the 3000 spoke in tongues?
No, you are wrong. Only your first sentence is correct.

Go to the Holy Bible (not commentaries), read all the scriptures that mention the Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost.

The King James Version of scripture mentions both Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost. Go read and study the scriptures.

You’re just reading commentaries. You need to read ALL mention of Holy Spirit in scripture.

Sorry I did not mention any commentaries. I have given you sound doctrine and you reject it because it does not fit your notion that a baptism other than the new birth is required to be saved. Your soteriology is flawed.

A proper sound doctrinal knowledge of the Holy Spirit will let the air out of the Pentecostal charismatic balloon. The most important thing is that you have a sound knowledge of Christ and have the Holy Spirit who produces the new birth and creates the new man in Christ.

Salvation is a one step process. Believe on Christ and receive eternal life.

Acts 10:44-47 ESV

44. While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.
45. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit
was poured out even on the Gentiles.
46. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Them Peter declared,
47. “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

We in verse 47 refers back to the believers from among the circumcised in verse 45. Just as is the Greek word hos which means in the same manner as.

This means that Peter in verse 47 acknowledges that those believers from the circumcised who accompanied received the Holy Spirit in the same manner as Peter and those from the house of Cornelius.

Acts 15:6-9 ESV

6. The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter.
7. And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made
a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.
8. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us,
9. And he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith.

Us in verse 8 refers back to brothers in verse 7 and apostles and elders in verse 6. Just as is the Greek word hos, which means in the same manner as.

Here Peter indicates that the elders to whom he was speaking also received the Holy Spirit in the same manner as the apostles and the house of Cornelius.

Also consider Acts 11:1-18

Think about who “us” and “we” refers to in verses 15 and 17. It appears to refer to those to whom Peter was speaking, the “party of the circumcision“ from verse 2.

Peter clearly refers to many people as having been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Nope, again.

I NEVER said or mentioned anything to be required to be saved EXCEPT the Body and Blood of Yeshua/Jesus Christ and faith in HIM ALONE. However, AFTER being saved, the "works" of the Holy Spirit begin in every believer's life.

You keep trying to put me in a "pentecostal charasmatic" box. I'm neither. I just simply follow Christ being lead by the Holy Spirit. I do enjoy the charismatic spirit-filled non-denominational churches.

You're stuck in denominational doctrines and really need to go read your Bible.

A proper sound doctrinal knowledge of the Holy Spirit will only come from the scriptures NOT denominational doctrines. Go and actually READ FOR YOURSELF every time the Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Holy Bible.

Now, you are very wise because you went searching the scriptures! Excellent! To fully understand, read ALL the scriptures that mention the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost and ask the Holy Spirit for understanding.

God bless!

Prove you are right from Acts without adding your opinions. Were does it say any besides the Apostles and their subjects spoke in tongues? Where does it say any not in the two outpourings spoke in tongues? Tongues were evidence of the Baptism.

It's NOT just Acts, it's ALL the scripture - EVERY TIME the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost is mentioned in the Holy Bible.
