so funny, went to the library (as an INFP would do lol) and I find a book in the biography section called

A look inside A rare mind. An INFJ's journal through personal discovery - By Jennifer Soldner

?! Ok not an INFP but close enough that I was intrigued.
I havent read it yet but apparently ms Soldner is the founder of INFJ Anonymous

blurb on back says

I am not insane
I am not failing
I am not broke
I am an INFJ

I love that she found she could finally be understood and that there were actually people like her around.

I find it interesting that the responses on here assume that just because we are different personalities somehow negates the fact that we are Christian. being a certain personality type doesnt mean you believe in a personality! lol or somehow become one.

Its just a tool to help people understand their unique way of experiencing the world.

if you are INFP like me, you would experience a lot of similar things how you get along or dont get along with people. Its like puzzle pieces, and you only click with certain people, and you might clash with others because things just dont fit. But everyone is needed to compete the puzzle.

I finished reading 'I am INFJ' My thoughts are wow thats quite a lot to deal with being so emphatic that sometimes need to go into shut down mode because you feel the feelings of everyone around you. Can be blessing or curse.

the difference is the P and I think for INFPs is we dont really have the perfectionistic streak that INFJs have. They always want to do better and be better, always seek to improve and feel failure when things arent up to standard, even feelings of jealousy of people who do well.

whereas we INFPs actually accept imperfection or being works in progress, while not losing our ideals.
apparently INFPs are also healers as a strong trait...and Mr Rogers is named as the most INFP person ever.

I havent ever seen Mr Rogers on tv but I know theres a movie coming out where Tom Hanks plays him.

INFPs I wonder if you feel like sometimes not belonging in a hyper competitive world, where people try to one up each other.
That you need to find your niche.

I was thinking on this lately how many schools are geared on competition and how, even when I got top or won awards, I didnt like to be singled out because...it would make other people jealous or envious, it would embarass me, I had ugly feelings of pride sometimes, or if I didnt win anything then I would feel overlooked and as if my effort didnt count. I would be happy for others, but then I thought, the recipients might be gloating and the ones who went home with nothing would feel bitter.

I think theres a difference between graduation and then on top of that being honored. I think the way its done in america for example the oscars where people are nominated and then have to wait and see if they won out of five ir six others for the same award is a bit of a con sometimes, wheras in britain when they just give out honors if you are nominated by showing up to the Queen you will be knighted or whatever for your services. (not just for acting in dramas and making movies) its not like she would ask you and then NOT shake your hand and only pick one out of five others in a category.

hmm just thinking out loud.

INFPs was just thinking of how sometimes we FEEL too much, like it can be overwhelming because when someone cries, I end up crying too, or when someones funny I can laugh too. we can easily just catch on the feelings of others around us.

This can be good thing in many instances but not when someone is angry, cos that can be devastating for us if we feel someone elses rage (and not even understand why) but you have to close yourself up from destructive feelings of others. Detachment is sometimes required.

ive often heard people say 'you make me angry' and blame someone else for their anger...but in reality each person is responsible for their own feelings you cant actually make someone angry. A lot of angry people are triggered by little things but often its not even anything deliberately provoking.

so control of ones emotions(feelings) is something INFPS need to learn more than most. Emotions arent things to be afraid of but it can be exhausting being on emotional rollercoasters with some people eg happy one minute, outraged the next and never quite knowing how up and down things will be.

the good thing is if you have faith you can go to the rock and be grounded. Who is our rock? Who is our anchor in the storm? who will cultivate within us the fruit of temperance (self control)?

Im feeling misunderstood today as if people dont quite understand what we ask from God is a miracle and that we are then ones God has chosen to work miracles through.

its the old..you are too idealistic diatribe. For INFPS this can be hard because we dont want to give up our dreams or to stop making a difference. some people only see things in terms of dollars and cents they know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

for this reason I cannot be an accountant. I run into the lady at accounts and sometimes she can be so hostile at any suggestion of spending a budget on essential things like books for children.

I still dont know my budget for books, but God keeps sending me to work with them so...I would work on no budget if I have to...makes it even more of a miracle I suppose.

Dear INFPs. This is a thread just for you.
Since I am one too and am happy so many INFPS on CC.
We are idealists, so in this thread we can talk about our ideals without others saying they are unrealistic and will never happen! Be creative!

Blessings from a likeminded and empathatic INFP.
What about the ambiverts and the ISFJ's? (I'm both ;) haha).

I have an INFP feeling outbreak.

I dunno. I just feel like, its good to have ones say. And I like others having their say, after all, its a forum where everyone can have their say if they so wish, and everyone will say different things, as is natural, because we dont copy each others posts.

But I dont know how do deal with if someone doesnt like you saying something and tries to stop you when it wasnt even offensive.

After all we alone are responsible for what comes out of our mouths or write down.

I also notice that some people really dont like it when people just tell it like it is. Sure, we can dream and imagine things and that is good if its a vision, we are told to write down the vision. that is good thing.
But the Bible doesnt always shy away from the rough stuff either.

The thing is, if we are saying what God wants us to say, we can always give a reason for our hope. so theres no harm in saying well, this is the sin and I'm gonna name it sinful stuff happens right? However, my solution to this sin is not to hide it under the rug and ignore it and pretend it doesnt happen.

huh I came across my old INFP thread

well we might have new people now so, if you actually have done the myer briggs test a few times and somehow always come up with INFP I would like to hear from you.

you can still post if you came up with something different but, I was hoping that maybe I may actually find a fellow needle in a haystack or something.

My IFCN (Indolent Felines Cat-Napping) club is still going strong.

Membership: 1

I would do a membership drive, but I lack the drive to start it.

*Lynx yawns and goes back to taking a nap on a tree branch.

Yeah....
But you do understand that this thread is nothing but bait for the ENFP inside of me.

Just to stir the pot.

It's an irresistible thing.

But ENFPs love everyone and everything....except old careers....which is why we change jobs a lot.

I met somebody like that in a game, Fallout: New Vegas. (Without going into a lot of explanation) she was part of a group of people who lived a LONG time. She said every decade she picked a new name and a new vocation, to keep life from getting old.

At the point where I met her, she was a biologist named Calamity. "I'm pretty good at it. Or at least (the doctor she was assisting) says I am."

That's why we know so much about wildly varying things....from chef to electrician. Electronics and sales and scriptures and precision machining.

We do everything we think of doing and see no reason to not. I've personally had 4 different careers already. Rose to the top ranks and quit to do something else.

Currently while working on the bakery I'm studying precision machining....I wanna build a nice clock. (Horology) I don't do well with boredom....because I just don't allow myself to get bored.

There really aren't many of us left. I talked to an ENFP guy about our desire for a particular coffee mug. And the conversation went something like this:

Me: " so we talking about throwing some clay or just going to one of the studios to paint one up with glaze?"

Him:" actually I am gonna make the clay first by refining it and then throw some clay....might sound like I'm stretching things a bit but."

Me:" oh no...totally believe you....can I watch and learn how?"
