Walking alone and lonely, out to the very end.
A narrow sliver jutting into the sea.
Cold, unpleasant; low clouds darkly overhead,
Flew the wind pushed steady and strong.
Below, waves spend themselves orderly against the rocks,
Striking in rhythm and great energy, assured and fearless.
Spray rode the wind soaking everything,
Dripping from my hair, down my collar.
The smell of seawater and the taste of salt added to the uneasiness.
The cry of a gull, the lone bark of a sea lion carried the din.
The wind, unbroken for thousands of miles pushed against my chest,
Urging me from the edge.
My eyes could see but five or six miles,
Before the sea curved and sky dropped.
The vastness was eerie, uncanny, frightening.
There was a message here; not heard or sensed, but awakened.
Deep searched and found a small hidden place that answered unaware.
Echo answering call.
Turning, the aloneness remained, unanswered;
Yet touched by The Greater.
