Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV)

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

6 So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”

Obviously, the love of money can bring about sin but I want to focus on being content with what you have. Why? Because the promise of God holds no matter your situation. "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." In this promise, we can have confidence. If God is on our side then what mortal man shall we fear? A wise individual will fear God because God in His justice will judge the unrighteous with a fiery act. Evil will never triumph. Our Savior is not a politician or new laws. These are at most a temporary bandage. Only Jesus Christ will change the hearts of the wicked.

He's still the Creator and Sustainer. The pillars of reality rest on His firm foundation.

People can deny them and assault them, but they cannot be moved. A mighty fortress is our God...

Yes, God is still in Control. God is always in control............however, in that He, through His infinite wisdom, gave mankind Free Will, man, as a fallen creation, will surely screw things up and cause harm to themselves and other men.............

God's plan will come to pass regardless. We have in death the promise of salvation. Or in life the hope of Jesus Christ's return. We win either way. We should do all we can within our control and rest in knowing that God is working.

why would our saviour be a politician?????? People that look to policticians to save us are a bit deluded. They are just mere men with feet of clay.

Jesus Christ is our Lord.

Where did I say a politician is our Savior?

Enter Jesus. I think people forget that while God makes many promises, they are not without a part that we also must involve ourselves in.

God does not smooth over our sin and our responsibilities and He quite often does not 'rescue' us from a situation we played a part in, but He will lead us out and work things out, often not to our will but to His, and we have to be willing to allow His guidance and not pray in the hope He will just make it all go away.

Checking out the family forum, seems quite a few join just to find answers to personal problems that they caused themselves.

Thinking about the title, I'm wondering just what or how people think that God is in control?

What does that mean exactly? Is the op about the current situation in this country or the world?

Is God in control of everything or do we make choices?

just wondering

I understand what others are saying here, and not sure why they quoted my comment to post theirs......... just saying.

God IS in control, but we must all understand that bad things happen to good people here in this fallen creation. And, while it was not Gods desire that these things happen, He WILL be there for us when they do...........

That was my point........... Many people struggle to understand why God "allows" bad things to happen to bad people, but don't wonder too much when bad things happen to bad people..........

God IS in control, and we need to fix our eyes on Jesus and seek Gods will in our lives.

who would look to politicians to save us. They must be out of their mind or brainwashed. No politician has ever saved anyone....but you know what, Jesus did make the NEW testament but a lot of people I guess arent familiar with the two commandments He gave.

Some doubt the guidance and divine intervention of God but also in dark times many in Scripture would forget the promises of God.

well thats why prophet Samuel said dont look for a king but the Israelites wanted one anyway.

Even Jesus didnt want to be an earthly king. When he was crucified, his mockers placed on him a crown of thorns. Jesus was offered all the kingdoms of this world but he refused them.

Even though He was the only one who could rightly inherit the throne.
