Hello! I am a young christian who wants to get closer to God. However, I feel like I may have grieved or quenched the holy spirit because I have no desire to follow God. I also feel like I have a hard heart and am struggling to feel his presence and trust him. Any advice? Also when the holy spirit is grieved does he leave or is he still with us?

Hello flowergirl69, I like your name :) Whenever i see a number like that, I wonder if it is the year the person was born :D I am not asking, and you needn't say. I do notice also that you say you are struggling to feel God's presence while believing you have no desire to follow God, and yet that very hunger to have more of God in your life is a prompt signaling desire which needs to be fed. As a young Christian you may be confused about a few or even a lot of things, but one thing is certain: once you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God, He will never leave nor forsake you. It is one of the promises God has made to us, and He is trustworthy to finish the good work He has begun in us. He has drawn you with loving kindness, and you may need to likewise learn to be more kind to yourself and patient as you grow in Him, which takes time, and will in fact continue for the rest of your life. Do you have a church family or anyone with whom to read Scriptures on a regular basis? These days meeting face to face has become restricted, but many churches now regularly meet online for fellowship and study of God's revealed written Word. I pray you have/find fellowship with other believers you know personally, and I encourage you to read the Bible. Many things will be revealed to you that will help you find peace.

Thank you for your response! I do have a church home that I normally attend and will be serving in ministry soon! How do I know that I have been sealed with the holy spirit? I have already been baptized and accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior. I've heard some people say that you receive it when you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, and I have also heard that you need to have someone pray over you in order to receive it.

"There are those that have not the capacity to accept God in their lives,
often this may be due to circumstances of ones surroundings, and this shall
only be determined by ones own self. The Holy Spirit being a gift, and unless
accepted and acknowledged, most likely will play no part of ones life.
And, being consumed by worldly people, places and things, often shuts out the
necessity of finding our spiritual needs. I have learned, a peace within is possible,
so long as I know to allow the Holy Spirit to be an important part of my being....Praise God!
I hope your desire of God, becomes known in your life, and time waits on no one."
