Jesus clearly warns us in Luke 16: 10-12 that if we cannot trusted to be honest with even small things in this life, how can we be trusted in the next when we will have much more given us. He warned us: Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
If we have not been trustworthy in handling worldly money and possessions, why should we be trusted with true heavenly riches? if we have not been trustworthy with someone else's property in this life why should we be trusted with heavenly property?
Be careful not to interpret these words of Jesus in ways which render them unnecessary for salvation.
